Aracaju has 35 km of beaches, and the most important part is in the south, Atalaia. Permanent waves, golden sand, and plenty of space, surrounded by bars, restaurants and hotels. There are plenty of sports and nightlife options nearby.

Aracaju is a colourful pedestrian promenade flanked by old houses, and now containing shops, in the centre of Aracaju. It's quiet and safe, with Portuguese restaurants, colonial churches and museums.

Aracaju Aquarium

This is a marvelous oceanarium, with an aquarium the shape of a giant turtle, which we thought was very cool. There are tanks with turtles, fish, sharks, and other marine animals. Admission is about $ 12, half-price for students and children. Highly recommended.

Aracaju, despite being better known for its beaches, has lots of parks. It's a good place to go for a walk, exercise or hang out with friends. Here you can see more than 100 different species of trees in a very cool space. Several events take place in the park, organised by the local government. Open Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and evenings every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 17.30 to 18.30, the park offers trained teachers to conduct free outdoor fitness classes, including yoga and more.

It's in this wonderful place where you can see crystalline waters, with a peaceful heavenly climate. These are some of the wonders that can be found in Saco Beach, which is a cozy part of Sergipe. Located on the border between Baha and Sergipe, this retreat, where I stayed, surrounded by good company, offers options for every taste - whether on the beach in warm waters or Royal River, cutting the border states and protects charming beauties.

Aracajú has 35km of beaches, and ever-shifting waves. Surfing has become a main part of coastal life. Caueira beach, the main and most famous, is 29km south. Atalaia also has areas for surfing, as well as Artistas beach with restaurants and bars to truly ride waves. In all of them, there are surf schools and equipment leasing.

Museums in Aracaju
Museu da Gente Sergipana

This museum is one of the surprises of the city of Aracaju. It is located right in the city centre, and has easy access if you're driving as it has its own free car park. The entrance to the museum is also free, but it's very well-maintained. It's highly interactive, with several exhibits that require audience participation, making it perfect for children. You'll find a cozy cafe at the back. Sadly you can't take photos inside.

Everyone who travels wants to bring a special souvenir home with them. Aracaju has a market where you can find plenty to choose from. There are lots of little things on offer, but nothing so big that it'll fill your bag completely. An essential stop for your souvenir shopping.
