Along with the National Theatre, the Costa Rican post office is one of the city's main historical moments, and is worth a look. It has beautiful architecture dating back to 1917, and offers some lovely views.
The National Culture Centre includes several cultural and ministerial institutions like the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and is totally open to the public. I love the remarkable Costa Rican architecture.
This is a symbol of the freedom of the people of Costa Rica, who are fiercely proud of their roots. It was unveiled on September 13th, 1996, and is a particularly impressive sculpture made in Italy. I love the architecture, which really stands out from the rest of the city.
In the western part of the Costa Rica capital, San Juan, Paseo Colon is one of the city's main avenues, and also one of the most beautiful. It's all very busy, full of traffic, crowded in the late afternoons, and a nice place to go for a walk and get a feel for the city.
The museum was opened on May 3, 1978 in an old terminal of the Savannah International Airport. It has a collection of over 2500 works of artists and is dedicated to the preservation, dissemination and encouragement of art. Here is also where research and restoration works are done. It is responsible for acquiring new works with public funds, which isn´t an easy thing to do.
A little bit away from the constant hustle and bustle of the nearby Plaza de la Cultura, and located in one of the city's most symbolic buildings, the National Theatre, this cafe is a haven of peace. It's very quiet, elegant, and cozy at the same time. You can enjoy some delicious coffee here, and wonderful cakes. The prices are significantly higher than elsewhere in the city, but it's worth a visit.
This photo was taken on the second day of my trip to Costa Rica. We stopped at Rio Danta Restaurant, when we went to Tortuguero, a Caribbean Nature Park that everyone should visit. I could have taken over 200 photos of this most beautiful nature park, the channels full of trees, monkeys, basilisks, birds, butterflies, alligators, etc. But I prefer this one, since it was the first thing that surprised me during the 12 day trip. For me, having had the opportunity to see this kind of nature, it was the highlight of the whole trip.
