Saint Lazarus is buried under the church. You can visit the catacombs and see the tombs (Larnax) which gave Larnaca its name. Ask a local or the priest to tell you the connection between Saint Lazarus and the salt lake
If you visit during winter time it will be filled with water. During summer it dries up. In earlier years it was connected with the sea, and locals used to get salt from the lake.
If you are lucky you may get to see flamingos. Until the early 90s swans used to visit the lake during the winter. Nowadays is a really rare thing.
