When we got to the train station from Riobamba we saw that the train we wanted (Devil's Nose Riobamba) its roof full of people sitting waiting to leave the station! We got up on the roof too! It was a truly uncomfortable trip but also one of the most interesting in my life. The train kept moving, on the bends it seemed we were going to fall, while corn vendors walked from car to car with amazing balance. Great scenery, mountains and deep green fields.
This journey is rated the most complicated railway journey in the world. It's difficult to get tickets if you go during the high season, so it's advisable to book ahead of time. The trip is fascinating, the least best is the Devil's Nose, and the best is the scenery and journey. Once you get to the Devil's Nose, there will be a few typical dances and Alausí turns.
Going here really is a unique experience and to observe this either at sunrise or sunset from the Andes in the heart of Ecuador, after a walk of about 6 or 7 hours of climbing from Caatequilla Parish in Chambo Canton. It's a unique experience that you have to see for yourself.
It's just wonderful to go above the clouds in a country that has everything! Going back to your city you will find yourself suddenly observing one of the most spectacular sunsets that nature has to offer in the clouds and you will just want to stop and admire the Andes which has so much beauty to offer.
Alausi is a canton in the Chimborazo province, Ecuador. There are still ancestral traditions. The horn-player is a popular character in all the festivities, in which he comes out to play his instrument, the horn.
From the panoramic view of Alausi one can see: the public clock, the train line, and on a clear day, the wonder of the Andes. From this height you can see the surrounding hills of this beautiful corner of Ecuador. The Chiripungo (Stone Mountain), of which there are many legends, is only a 40-minute walk. They are both something you can enjoy!!
On Sundays Alausí streets fill with cholos and cholas coming from the next villages and towns around to the market, to buy, sell, offer their products, that are grown and picked with their own hands. Throughout the streets you get to see all kinds of animals, fruits ... eat cuttlefish white .. feel Ecuador.
