We loved it, much more than we expected. The houses are built in the typical architecture of alpine structures. It also has some canals, a very small but very romantic train station, some monuments and, of course, good views.
The ocean ice is the result of 3 glaciers. Situated on the north side of Mont Blanc, it offers with its 7 miles of land a show for everyone who comes to visit. I think even the most cynical of us can not stay stone faced with something so lovely. You have to see if they spend your holiday in Savoie.
In my opinion, one of the most spectacular things you can do in your life is to take the cable car up the Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix. The world suddenly changes and Mont Blanc leaves you completely speechless.
Go up to the outlook point of Mont Blanc which is 3842 m high. This photo is taken from the viewpoint of Mont Blanc. The altitude is 3842 meters and the views are spectacular. To get to the viewpoint of Chamonix you have to take 2 lifts that ascend from 1300 meters and to 3842 in 20 minutes.
Leaving Fayet, close to Saint Gervais and Chamonix. Meet at the front of the train station Compagnie du Mont Blanc. The train, the highest in France, takes you to the foot of the glacier Bionnassay . THere are 3 stops: - Bellevue - Col de Voza - Nid Aigle 2412 m. There you an find the eagle nest shelter, where you can eat and sleep. There are incredible views, mountain goats, and an incredible ascent to the shelter. One tip, book the day before.
This is not the Montblanc mountain, but we visited it during a tour of the surroundings, a route that ended in that valley. At the foot of the mountain there is a glacier, if I remember correctly it was called "Mer de Glace". The majesty of the mountain and scenery dominated by the glacier, makes it a place we will never forget.
After many years traveling to the Alps to practice my favorite sport, climbing mountains, I went back. This time I went to enjoy the beautiful little towns that I hadn´t been able to enjoy before because of the toughness of my climbs. A good friend came with me and we decided to enjoy the landscape and spend a few nights outdoors from some unforgettable natural looking points. The views of the Mont Blanc massif from the natural park of the red pines, located in a privileged spot right in front of Mont Blanc, were stunning. As we continued our journey through the French Alps, we decided to visit one of the largest glaciers in Europe, which was born on the slopes of Mont Blanc.
If you desire a quiet place to have a drink or, better, a few beers, this is the perfect PUB. Well cool décor, a relaxed atmosphere and good sofas to rest on after a morning on the mountain (because you will have done, right? XD) It also has a terrace on the main street of Chamonix with a stove, just in case it gets a tad nippy!
