Zakros is located on the east coast of the island of Crete. This palace is connected to Minoan Knossos and was built around 1900 BC. It was rebuilt in the year 1600 BC and was partially destroyed in the year 1,450 BC. It was not until 1961 when the Greek archaeologist, Nicolas Plato, discovered it. Like all the Minoan palaces, it has the same design with a central courtyard and rooms around it. The actual accommodation was located in the east wing. In the west wing was the religious area, while the stores were located in the north the artisans were housed in the south. According to its location and the remains found here, it must have been a great center of trade with Egypt and Asia Minor.
