In the heart of the capital of the Maldives, Malé, stands the oldest Mosque of the islands called Hukuru Miski Mosque, its dome is visible from any place on the island. Although tourists are not allowed inside, they can see the outside and go up the marble stairs to see the inscriptions on its front door. Close to the Mosque is the cemetery and the Bazaar Singapore where visitors can buy souvenirs and other things.
My family and I visited this little corner of paradise last year in March, probably the best month to visit the Maldives. We stayed 7 nights on Diffushi island, a rather small island with lots of palm trees and flowers that's surrounded by a lagoon full of really indescribable colors. It was an unforgettable vacation!
The name comes from the Sanskrit Male (Mahaalay) and means "big house", even though it is a small island, and even though the 2004 Tsunami flooded almost one third of the island, it really does have a lot to see. It has all the most important services like banks, ATMs, souvenir shops, and a market. The market is very interesting to visit, the main commodity is the fishing boats, that capture tuna. You can also find fruits and vegetables, although most come from other islands. There are also "stalls" where you can find rolled cigarettes with .. newspaper! Or try the betel leaves
Malé is definitely not a good place to drink a beer. I basically explored the entire city trying to find a beer. They have tropical fruit cocktails, but at 15.00 euros they're not worth it (even 10 euros would be too steep). Pricey, yes, but it is what it is. The curry is very good but be careful because it makes you drink a lot. Lots of mosquitos.
This photo sums up my holiday in Maldives, calm, clear waters and a sky you dream of. The caption only has to say "embraces the vastness". Although the setting was idyllic with palm trees, white sand, sharks, this is the view from our little spot, our private beach! A total luxury today.
It is difficult to find nice places to spend time while waiting at the airport in Male, Maldives. However, the Aqua bar offered us hospitality for a few minutes for our pleasure. Located on the outside of the airport, "the place to be" in the neighborhood meeting place for young people from the town and airport employees. At dusk, you can enjoy the terrace admiring the Indian ocean, for the last time, while enjoying the warmth of the place. The cocktails are very good, if a little expensive. The smoothies are delicious and refreshing (cost $ 7 smoothie). The place is also a restaurant (sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes ...), for the most gluttonous.
Great experience with two of my best friends, a great resort to toast with French champagne, if any of you are thinking of going .. Do not hesitate. Recommended 100%: the best is the situation of the water villa. The worst: you have to go leave.
Madoogale Lagoon is an Italian island in Ari Atoll. It has some coral reefs that are very close and beautiful. Therefore, it is the pulse of a dive site for lovers of this sport and for the delight of visitors. It is a paradise where you can carry out your dream holiday.
This imposing building of special beauty, has an all-white outside with arches at the entrance and big windows. To get to the front door, you must climb some stairs that are all white also. In front of them is a fine tower with a golden dome, which can be seen from anywhere.
These gardens are now a public park. They form a true space for relaxation, escaping the hectic pace and pollution of the city, similar to New York. Here you will find lush trees and different types of birds.
