Covas beach is white sand, surf and goes through the city center, just after the Roman bridge to reach rocks at the end of the beach by the name of You Castelos.
It is worth climbing to see the scenery of Vivero. There is a nice park, with toilets and tables for dining, with sun and shade. I like the macro bottle mounted on the tables unless they had and collect trash.
The church of San Francisco is outside what was the walled area of the village of Viveiro. The church was constructed in the 14th century style is pointed and has a Latin cross. THere are many graves in the church nave excelling in the tombs of Blessed Constanza Castro and Nicomedes Pastor Diaz. In the sacristy there is an altar with an altarpiece we find the image of the Christ of the Merchants of the 14th century. It also has a lovely Renaissance altarpiece brought by John Dutton and Aguiar from the Nordic countries, which belonged to the convent of Santo Domingo. In the back there is a wooded area with a very quiet lawn.
Nursery City was surrounded by high walls of towers that are wide. This walled city had up to 6 gates and 4 wickets, which was the gateway to the 3 main roads. The most famous of these is the Puerta de Carlos V dating back to the 16th century.
Viveiro has train station and buses. The bus station is at the entrance of the town on the C-642, opposite the tourist info office. Next to the station is a shopping center. It is a big structure, in which there are: Waiting room, cafe and restaurant, toilets, telephones, lockers, luggage, and a shopping arcade in which, among other things, no travel agency and car rental. Outside there is parking, but usually crowded and difficult to park. Of Vivero buses depart and arrive: Ferrol, Santiago, Coruña, Lugo, Ribadeo, Madrid, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country. The main lines are operating Alsa and Arriva.
The Bridge of Mercy is at the entrance to the town of Vivero, coming from Barquero, Vicedo and Covas. It was constructed during the Roman domination. The bridge was made up of 12 arches pointed style, except the 1st and last half-point. The present structure dates back to the year 1544. Now there are only 9 arches that because of increased traffic, became necessary to widen. It went through many years of restoration and today is considered one of the great cultural heritage sites of the village. In the center of the bridge there is a stone cross placed there for people to pass in front of it, pray for the soul of a person who died in the same place.
The market or food market of Vivero has been recently reconstructed, is a structure with a single story, with the outside painted in light blue highlighting forging its windows to match the door. You can buy all kinds of fresh and perishable products at affordable prices . It is almost opposite the bus station on Avenida De Galicia on the corner of Avenida Cervantes, near St. James Church and Convent of San Francisco.
It is a discovery, we were lucky and the sun accompanied us during the tour. An incredible eucalyptus which can embrace ... among many, the oldest specimen in Europe. The kids loved it ... Over 100 years of life has that tree! Water puts music and eucalyptus leaves give an odor to the environment that makes it even more enjoyable.
We continue our tour of the old village of Vivero leaving the Convent of the Conception to the Porta da Vila, but we found the so-called Grotto of Lourdes. It's right at the foot of the tower of the convent, a square which is accessed through a gate, but it was open. There is a chapel dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, which was constructed in the image and likeness of the one in France. She was surrounded by candles and offerings (called ex-votos): They were human body parts! Appear to have dismembered doll shop to hang there in pieces. There heads, legs, arms ... Actually gave me quite an impression, but then I found out that is very common in Galicia (and then I saw him in more places), and they are made of wax. Used to ask for Health: If for example you have to operate in a leg, hang as offering a leg wax to ask that everything goes well. This chapel was founded by priest José Pérez Barreiro. Since then, I found the place very interesting.
Called City Hall Square because you can find a big square that is close to the pier and whose main entrance door is located the iconic Charles V, of medieval origin. The Plaza Mayor has its charm as the statue formerly located on one side of it. Today the statue, as I say strategically located on one side of the square, is of iron on a stone pedestal in honor of Nicomedes Pastor Diaz.
The natural atmoshpere of Mount San Roque, about 4 Km of Vivero, in an area 353 meters above the river is a place of recreation and relaxation for all. This area has playground, public toilets, and a picnic area with lots of stone tables and bbqs. What stood out was how clean everything was, and we were not missing a single grill barbecues. There is also ample parking. An ideal place to spend a day in the countryside. Additionally, this mountain there is a viewpoint, a shooting range, and Ermita. Directions: From the San Francisco church take the road on the left towards the cemetery. Since there are 3 km upstream.
Menus of the day from Monday to Friday for 10 € and they are good potions. ask if any of the soups can be repeated many times in the bowl. The fish soup delicious, the squid mortal sin, also letter to good prices, grilled fish recommended
The landmark structure of the Casa de los Leones is in the center of Vivero, in a pedestrian street and very commercial. The entire ground floor of this old country house is designed for shops and bars or cafes. The House has frontage to 2 streets interconnected by means of a kind of passage in which several shops are also installed.
Here we can see how sand and land combine on the beach, and invades the roots of the earth to the beach, in the large beach of covas viveiro , just 2 miles from the coast of Lugo. Sea and mountains come together in this lovely place.
Walking along the main shopping street of the town of Vivero I noticed this shop. The title of "bazaar" is not fitting since it is more of a gift shop, where you can find Sargadelos pottery, dinnerware with the typical pattern of La Cartuja in Seville, and all kinds of figurines, vases and decorative items, including lamps.
This pharmacy is in the center of Vivero, on the corner of the Plaza Mayor and Pastor Díaz Rúa, where you will find the main shops. It is run by licensed pharmacists and Baamonde Casariego, but we do not need to buy anything worth peeking at its door and watch its décor, as it is an old pharmacy and has an authentic collection of antique pharmacy jars and wooden desk from early last century. The structure was the 19th century rectory of Santiago.
"Platax" is the name of a gift shop, jewelery and watches from the emblematic Calle Pastor Diaz. Its showcase attracts attention, as it is well lit and the objects of their windows are lined up quite neat and well presented. In this shop you can find watches, pendants and other silver objects. The smaller insurance will stay glued to the window, it is the only product I saw with the famed "Hello Kitty" and Barbie: From notebooks, pencil cases and journals, to watches, etc.
