Nature Reserves in Bar Harbor
Acadia National Park
Located on the coast of Maine (north east coast USA), mainly comprised of the Mount Desert Island (there is a bridge to get there). The area has mountains, a rocky shorefront with a beach, forests and lakes. The more than 2 million visitors annually, making it one of the most important places on East Coast of the United States (with the exception of the Everglades in Florida). A 30km road runs through the most important places in the park, and a small detour took us to Mount Cadillac, the best viewpoint point in the area. In Bar Harbor you can arrange excursions to see whales or lighthouses scattered among the small islands off the coast.
Concerts in Portland
Center Space Gallery
If you like movies, theater, photography, visual arts, music, etc, etc, etc, you want to be in Portland, a city on the Atlantic coast in the State of Maine. The motto: "contemporary, emerging and unconventional arts, artists, and ideas" Gallery Space 538 could be extended to the entire city: Art, artists and ideas emerging, contemporary and unconventional. This space was created with the idea to create an artistic space right there in the middle of the neighborhood. In the mornings and evenings this art gallery is a hub where you can either be a painting student or a student in a photography workshop, or if you ask, perhpas even a teacher. On Wednesdays and Fridays and weekends, exchibitions are open at night and concerts as well as short samples are performed. The Space Gallery is already one of the favorite places chosen by more and more artists as they choose Portland as the spot to exhibit their artwork.
Neighborhoods in Portland
The Arts District
The Arts District in the beautiful city of Portland is a central neighborhood where every shop window is decorated in detail, and every corner announces an event or a show that will be held in the coming days (always updated). And in summer there is always a painter who exhibits his works in a cloth outdoors, while a guitarist sings the songs of Bob Dylan. The shops always advise responsible consumption, and create items from recycled material or items which are recyclable. In this area there are restaurants and bars such as Alternative Space Gallery's that I talked about yesterday, or the Blue Note. The most practical thing to do is to go with notepad and pen down what you are interested in. I, going down Congress Street, met a group of break dance and rapper, all very young and very talented. Well, will you meet them!
Gardens in Portland
Community Garden in Portland
The community garden idea arose when the land was made available to the council and its dimensions could not, however much they wanted them to, build a block of apartments. A group of residents requested to make the site a community social work project. They wanted to plant their own fruits and vegetables. Originally 5 people working the land, this figure has grown to 50 people who, in turn, go once a week to offer assistance with the deserved reward. Each season the fruit and vegetables are harvested and distributed. It was a joy to experience for a day even though I went on harvest day!....
Of Touristic Interest in Kingman
Locomotive Park
This small park is opposite the Route 66 Museum and has one of the most interesting attractions in Kingman. You will find the locmotora Santa Fe, a myth from the Wild West. I do not know the exact measurements, but I assure you it is at least 4m tall. It is a real chunk of iron. Take a photo of yourself in front it before heading along the famous highway.
Of Touristic Interest in Tremont
Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse
Located in southwest Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park (Maine) is one the most famous lighthouses in the United States (a photo of it was actually chosen to be in on the national park's entrance pass in 2011). Accessible by car, you can visit between 9 am until sunset. There is a schedule though to keep people from disrupting the Coast Guard. I would recommend going at the end of the day, right before the sun sets. To the right there's a path that will take you to the lighthouse, but the most interesting path (to the left) is the one that leads to the cliff where you can take excellent photos.
Shopping Malls in Carmel
Carmel Plaza
Carmel is a chic city. Everything here exudes wealth and class ... the houses, hotels, shops, and even restaurants. It's a great place to go for a walk, and besides the shops on Ocean Avenue, there's a mini mall at the end of the street, named the Carmel Plaza. It's a small shopping center, and an absolute delight on sunny days. Inside there are stores from several brands and some cool cafes to sit and relax or play with the dogs. As I said, the city is expensive, so it has stores like Tiffany and Louis Vuitton.
Shops in Carmel
Kris Kringle
The Kris Kringle is Carmel's Christmas shop. Right at the entrance of a gallery on Ocean Avenue, it is quite modest. The wooden dolls and super cute Christmas tree decorations caught my attention. Prices are high, but the products are handmade, so they're worth the expense. They customize some products for you, making it a great place to pick up something for your personalized Christmas!
Nature Reserves in Carmel
Carmel River Lagoon and Wetlands Natural Preserve
Inside the Carmel River State Beach, you can find a lagoon that attracts many migratory birds. A good place to stop and relax! The park is located next to California State Route 1, about a mile south of Rio Road in Carmel.
Lakes in North Oxford
Aziscohos Lake
This is an artificial reservoir in Maine, near the New Hampshire border. The water quality makes it a great place for fishing, with particularly bountiful supplies of trout and salmon. There are some campsites on the shore, where you can request permission to light fires, and you can hire rowing boats.

Sunset in Carmel
The city is a popular tourist spot, tiny and charming. Go to the huge, beautiful beach at the end of the day to relax and watch the sun dip straight into the sea. Beautiful view, and you'll see the beach full of people playing with their dogs!
Beaches in York
Short Sands Beach
Ever since I was little, my family has been going to Short Sands Beach in York, Maine. The beach and the surrounding area holds lots of wonderful memories for me. Short Sands is a small, but relaxing stretch of land. The ocean is beautiful and it's a great place to hunt for sea creatures among the rocks. Lots of people use the rented floats and use their own water "toys" to ride the waves that can get big! The water is generally exciting to surf and just splash around in! It's a family friendly place with all its quaint shops and family restaurants.
Islands in Falmouth
Mackworth Island
Mackworth Island really is unique. Trails wrap around the island for over two miles, with a park in the center. The shore of the island is almost pure rock, which is wicked fun to climb on. Tide pools are everywhere, and the seaweed washes up on shore. The beauty and strength of the ocean shows. There's nothing like the rocky coastline of Maine, and it's home to me.
Statues in Bangor
Paul Bunyan Statue
The tallest statue of Paul Bunyon in the USA is located in Bangor, Maine and was constructed in 1959 by J. Normand Martin. Paul Bunyon is a local legend of a giant lumberjack ve help cleared the wilderness with his trusty giant ox, Babe. babe is frequently referred to at Babe the Blue Ox as story goes that Paul found her frozen in the winter tundra and saved her life, but that she forever retained her frozen blue coloring. While probably not worth pulling off the interstate to visit, this statue is a fun roadside attraction to see- especially is you know the legend of Paul Bunyon.

Candy Man
Mmmmmm chocolates are delicious, fudge was very delish too! The Candy Man has an old-fashioned neighborhood vibe to it, the kind that makes you want to go in for a treat before leaving the beach. They have an exceptional selection of candies, chocolates, yummy fudge, salt water taffy, flavored popcorn - a treat for all ages! Definitely stop in for the fudge!!
