After arriving in Niagara Falls City, in New York, you can see "a kind of smoke" that reaches into the sky. It's the waterfalls that dampen you after just approaching. They're full of life, with a fall of over 50 meters, and on a sunny day, the droplets make a bouncing rainbow. I grabbed my camera and adjusted the shutter, I tried to show that experience of colour, sound, and humidity.
Located just minutes from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, this museum can show you the various ways that have been used by man to go down Niagara Falls. From barrels to kayaks, there are plenty of exhibits, but unfortunately, not all were still occupied when they reached the bottom! To complete your visit, go to the Sheraton's self-service restaurant on the other side of the street for panoramic views while you eat.
The Horseshoe Falls are found on the Canadian side of the Niagara River, which comes from an Amerindian word for "Thunder of Waters", which is very appropriate! 52 meters high and 792 meters wide, they are bigger than the American falls. The Maid of the Mist offers an excursion to the base of these water titans so you can take photos. You'll be provided with a pretty blue poncho to protect you from the water. For the more adventurous, you can also try a helicopter flight.
Bridal Veil Falls are the American Niagara Falls. The Maid of the Mist offers a thirty minute excursion at the foot of the falls, and there is a bridge as close as possible to the thundering water. I highly recommend going to see these falls, which will really impress upon you the power of Nature.
There are places in the world that one must visit sometime in their life. The wonders made by man are in Europe but the wonders made by nature are in America. It's amazing how there are places that cover this land, make your skin crawl, and reduce the greatness of anything man has made. The force of nature comes to life in this adventure. Niagara Falls is an exquisite adventure to visit, it must be seen in the day and at night because the game of lights changes each time. Go to Buffalo! it is a wonderful experience after visiting Niagara Falls, take a walk through Spirit of Buffalo, it is a warm and wonderful restaurant with excellent service and special meals.

For the best views of Horseshoe Falls (from the US side) you must visit Goat Island. This tiny chunk of land is situated in the middle of the Niagara River between Bridal Veil and the Horseshoe Falls and allows visitors to get up close and personal to the raging rapids. I recommend parking at the visitor centre and walking along the Robert Moses Parkway towards Goat Island, the footbridge across Green Island also provides some amazing views of the Niagara River upstream.
We visited Niagara in the low season so entry to the Observation Tower was free, I think it normally only costs a dollar...well worth it. It provides jaw-dropping views of all three of the falls, although the most impressive is the American Falls by far. I would actually recommend seeing the falls in winter, the river is frozen and the spray from the falls creates massive mounds of snow hundreds of feet high, it's rather spectacular. The tower is perched high above the Niagara River so those with a fear of heights should stay away form the edge.
