Some posts ago, I told you that I was on a getaway to Quebec City via Montmorency Falls. As part of that tour, I was able to walk around the area of Old Quebec and I enjoyed the small cobblestone streets ... The hotel Manoir Hovey in North Hatley sits right on the shores of Lake Massawippi. Its interior design and fabulous location ranks it as one of the most intimate and beautiful in the area, where you can enjoy a few fabulous days of privacy in contact with nature and the lovely surroundings. The restaurant is ideal for couples to dine together and to enjoy some really delicious dishes.
This was the first hotel I stayed in Canada, and it made quite an impression on me ... after trying other hotels, none of them suited us both as much as Le Dauphin. Spacious, modern, very comfortable, equipped with modern appliances like flat-screen TVs, and computers with free internet. The beds are big (1.30m) and comfortable, and the bathroom has a lot of toiletries. There's individual climate control for each room. The lobby is spacious, with lots of information for tourists, and plenty of room to be comfortable. The small hotel is next to the convention center and Place Jean Paul Riopelle. In short: Comfortable, friendly, and a place to go back to.
I had a wonderful experience at this Chateau -it was very fancy and very expensive but the service was very exclusive. The building is sublime and at night it is lit up. I recommend a visit and, in terms of staying, I leave that to you to decide.
The Radisson Hotel Laval is halfway between downtown Montreal and the mountain area of Laurentian. In the center of the city of Laval are restaurants, boutiques, health centers and Spas. In the 175 rooms that the hotel has, there are beds, access to high speed internet and all the services offered by the Radisson. To rest you can enjoy the heated pool and fitness suite. There is a business center with 5 meeting rooms and banquet facilities for up to 400 people, which makes it an excellent choice for seminars and business conventions.
The Imperia Hotel and Suites is in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada, near the Oka National Park and near the Riviere du Chene. The whole hotel is very pleasant, comfortable and quiet. The rooms are very clean and have cable TV and telephone. The staff is super friendly and cordial. The hotel has a very good quality price ratio.
Located in the heart of "Old Quebec", in the tourist heart of the city, this hotel stands out among the rest for its minimalist decor in a recently renovated old building. The staff are great and are always smiling. Upon check-in, we were lucky enough to be presented with an "upgrade" to a suite: a room with a bath and shower, a large living room with a huge LED TV and a bedroom with corner windows that gave us incredible views like you see on TV ... all, as I said, with a very nice and minimalist decor. In every room there is a Nespresso machine to enjoy a good coffee whenever you want. The hotel has 4 bicycles for rent to its guests, which is a good option to enjoy the city. It has free WiFi and computer downstairs.
This was the only hotel that left a bad taste in my mouth during my stay in Canada. First due to its poor location, then what we found inside. I guess that its name, Classique, was pre-existing because the owners mustn't know how to carry out a renovation or how to look after a building. The state of the room was quite awful, and I do not consider myself as someone demanding. The noise of the smoke extractors from the kitchen barely let us sleep. A thousand and one details come to mind such as the floor of the concrete terrace missing some tiles, the lack of bulbs and chips in the furniture and that the bathtub leaked water. Breakfast barely covered what was expected and there were few or no kind words from the staff and then you find an envelope on the desk asking for the missing tip. In theory it was to be the best hotel during our trip, but in reality it fell short compared to the others. It's not about asking for luxuries, but rather requiring that everything functions properly and is in perfect condition.
An old school building has been turned into and hostel-hotel, ideal for a couple of nights while exploring the Gaspésie National Park. It is run by a very kind lady who is also in charge of making breakfast. In the basement you will find the old school kitchen available to cook whatever we want plus a couple of fridges in which we can put all our food. The double room we took was classy, clean, spacious and air conditioned (essential in summer) ... The only problem I see is their website .. someone should tell this woman that she won´t get very far with this website ... (I was about to do it but as my French was not good enough so I decided not to try). Making a reservastion is a bit messy, it´s not very easy to use and all rooms have a somewhat strange name ... But honestly, I think it is worth the trouble trying to book, or if not make the booking over the phone. It is highly recommendable accommodation.
A different kind of hostel, where travelers have been contributing creatively by making furniture from recycled materials. It is located in the old part of Montreal, near major attractions and very well connected by metro. The rooms are not very big, but nicely decorated. If you travel without a laptop, iPad, etc., you can us the internet for free for 20 minutes. There is also free WiFi.
A little walk from the old city of Quebec lies the Hotel Palace Royal. It is a very cozy place, with a peculiar feature of the hotels in the chain to which it belongs, the tropical style pool set in a large atrium with lush vegetation surround it
The Hotel de Glace (or Ice Hotel) is amazingly and pain-stakingly rebuilt each year from tons of ice and snow. The whole thing is an artistic masterpiece of themed suites, an ice bar, and other rooms.
Spending a day at the hotel is a fun and easy day trip from Quebec City (shuttles are even available or you can take a public bus if you don't have a rental car). You can take a tour of the beautiful suites, go behind the scenes, or spend time at their winter activities like snow tubing, snowshoeing, or going down the ice slide. Stopping for a drink made with local ingredients like spruce liqueur or maple syrup is also a fun treat.
However, the real joy comes with staying overnight. You'll be provided a winter sleeping bag and instructions for the best ways to stay warm, and yes, you can get a good night's rest. Having the place to yourself is a fun and unique experience! Best of all, overnight guests get access to the sauna as well which is a great way to warm up. Unfortunately, the jacuzzis were lukewarm at best but perhaps you'll have better luck.
This is a great way to enjoy Quebec in the winter! Book early for the best rates.
The Montreal Ice Village is unique, and enormous. There stands an ice hotel with 10 standard rooms, and 15 luxury suites. It also has igloos, a restaurant for a hundred guests, a terrace bar to enjoy a drink, a spa, a church, and other natural ice buildings. Whether you come day or night, it has special lighting so visiting this place, which is just a few minutes from the city center, is an unforgettable experience.
This is a hotel in the heart of the lake that shares its name. The tranquility is breathed here, in the woods, it's unmatched. The rooms don't have televisions or anything to help you be at peace with yourself. Very good Spa and superb cuisine served in the hotel restaurant.
The Thriftlodge Riviere Du Loup is located in Saint-Antonin and has recently been remodelled. Its location is ideal because it is very close to main roads and transport links throughout the city. Among its facilities there is a tasty restaurant, it's an ideal choice for those travelling on the Trans Canada Highway.
The Auberge & Hotel Montreal Espace Confort is located in the heart of Montreal's Latin Quarter, so it's very well-located for trips on foot to different central areas (Chinatown, Old Montreal, Vieux Port, etc.), as well as to more distant destinations outside the city center. It's located right next to the subway and just a 3 minutes' walk from the bus heading for the airport. For the rest, it is a very pleasant hotel with a cozy, charming style of decor. The staff are very nice and friendly, always willing to help us. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in downtown Montreal!
Michel Doyon hostel is located just over half a minute walk from the historic center of the city of Quebec, if you do not want to walk you can take the bus which stops at the door and drops you at the center in just ten minutes. The rooms are clean, heated and air conditioned (very important during the summer months). The room we had was quite narrow and had a table with a computer. The breakfast is hearty, you can eat all you want and it's included in the price, something to consider when choosing accommodation in this country as a good breakfast costs around $ 20 for two people!! They have guest parking in the house's garden.
This hotel really has the perfect location, in the Grand Alle, close to the Plains of Abraham park and the Citadel. It's close to supermarket, shops, and plenty of bars and restaurants. A great quality : price ratio - all rooms have bathroom and TV, with tasty breakfast in the morning, wifi, and lower prices than many other hotels in the city. It also offers rooms on the ground floor, ideal if you have mobility problems or a heavy suitcase.
