    Youth Hostels in Beijing
    Heyuan International Youth Hostel
The Heyuan intenational Hostel in Beijing was where we stayed our first night in Beijing before moving to Yard Hostel (which was where we had our reservation). We arrived one night earlier than planned to Beijing so we stayed in this hostel. Heyuan International Hostel is an amazing hostel, it has beautiful Chinese architecture in the courtyard. The bar service restaurant offers quality western breakfasts and stunning decor. This is a great place.

    Hotel Kapok - Forbidden City
I stayed here while in Beijing and the truth is that it was amazing, this well situated, breakfast is good and the rooms as well. We reserved online before we went and we had a pleasant surprise. We left the hotel for a few days to go to Xian and we came back, but it looked they had no rooms and we were put in a suite .... As you can see this was a big surprise! If you don´t want surprises and go to Pekin, without a doubt HOTEL KAPOK P.S. The facade of the hotel is the worst part of it.

    Beijing City Central Youth Hostel
The Central Youth Hostel is a youth hostel and guest house in the central railway station of Beijng, near Metro Station Beijing Railway Station (北京 站), perfectly accessible from Metro Line 2, which is an ideal location as it is near the Gate of Heavenly Peace Square and the Temple of Heaven (although I do not recommend walking to these places, because it will take a 30minute-stroll-and the taxi will only cost two euros). Rooms with ensuite (about 30Euros per night for a double room) with a shared bathroom (15Euros the individual double 20Euros). The shared bathroom is very dirty and there is hot water with good pressure, but sometimes they are full, people are not very clean and you have to bring your own toilet paper ... I prefer the rooms with a private bathroom, although there aren´t not many. Reservations are usually full. The hostel has a small shop, a restaurant, an internet room and a bar (with TV, billiards and darts,) and you can have a good time without leaving the building. Some rooms have a flat rate Internet access (included in the price), but not all of the rooms. The staff speaks English and Chinese as well.

    Hilton Beijing Wangfujing hotel
This hotel is located in the heart of Beijing. Although the hotel is named after the most famous shopping street in the city, it's actually not located on Wangfujing Street, but on a small side street, which was very confusing for us when we first tried to find it. The hotel is everything you would expect from the Hilton chain, pure luxury. The standard room is 50 m2 with a huge closet, an ideal spot to leave your suitcases and clothes, a bathroom with a separate shower area with handheld showerhead, a bathtub from which you can see the huge plasma TV, and a very nice dressing room. The bed is huge and very comfortable, and there is a sofa and a work area with a desk and speaker port for connecting Apple devices, such as an iPod. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool available to all guests, which is ideal for relaxing after visiting Beijing. Another thing that I liked about the hotel was the breakfast, which had plenty to choose from, and even included fresh produce (cheeses, meats, salads, fruits), traditional Chinese dishes, a large bakery and even a gluten-free selection for celiacs. The hotel is great, but, and it has one big BUT... in the room there's no free wifi. If you want to access the hotel's wifi without paying, you have to go down to the lobby.

    FeiYing International Youth Hostel
In China most of the time the Youth Hostels, hostels or international organization YHA hotels have several floors which are strictly reserved for members. My experience in China is that they tend to be clean, centrally located, and most importantly, a member of the staff always speaks English, which is not usual for cheap hotels in China. The Feiying is situated reasonably close to Tiananmen Sqaure, and it is very close to where you take the bus to the airport, and it is also close to the train station. You can find dorm rooms or a double room for a good price. The Beijing International youth hostel seemed the best in terms of the price / quality ratio, offering cheap priced and also activities such as visiting theaters acrobats, The Great Wall of China, etc. you can in small groups to escape the masses. Right now there are a few new hotels in Beijing HI since my visit in the year 2005, things have changed considerably. They are all in http://www.Hihostels.Com/dba/Hostels-Beijing-list.Php?Lang=E&city=CN|0007

    Peking Down Town Backpackers
This backpacker hostel located in Beijing's central street of Nanluoguxiang in the district of Dongcheng, is one of the most popular in the city. If you are visiting Beijing on a tight budget I recommend this place as your first choice of accommodation, since China's network of hostels is not very developed and there is no other establishment in the same category to cast a shadow. There is a laundry service, wireless internet service, free airport pickup and a western restaurant. The double room rates are around 15 euros per person, including breakfast.

    Emperors GuestHouse hotel
The most important thing to tell you is that this hostel is located in a palace built by Emperor Qing (if I remember correctly), it has a tunnel connecting it to the Forbidden City (although you couldn't go in the tunnel itself), and for only 6 USD can enjoy a night in an imperial palace. Breakfast isn't included, but you have a menu option in the restaurant, although in China it's practically a crime to eat at the hostel. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED :)

    Peking Yard Hostel
The Pekin Yard Hostel is a sensational hostel in Beijing, a modern hostel that has as much dormitory style rooms as it does double rooms. It has modern decor with photos of trips. It has kitchen service, a good atmosphere with music, a nice patio, a great option for backpackers and couples alike. Two minutes away from a metro stop, well-connected and in a central area. Very clean.

    The Emperor Hotel Beijing
The Emperor Hotel is located very close to the Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, the famous Tiananmen Square, the park and the street BeiHai Wanfujing. The staff is very nice and attentive, but only 1% of them speak English. There is a bus stop 2 minutes walking where many buses stops that take you directly to the most important tourist attractions of the city. It is highly recommended that anyone stays there.

    Leo Courtyard Hostel
This hostel claims to be the cheapest, it has charm, nice people, you'll have to visit the restaurant that it has with really nice employees who will be happy to speak broken English with you and teach you Chinese. The food isn't very Chinese, but it's good, even though all around it there are 100% Chinese restaurants at Chinese prices, like 8 yuanes for some noodles. This hostel is in the middle of Hutong, which is one of the streets in the old part of town, full of life, shops, restaurants, etc. This hostel is centrally located, walking you can reach Tienanmen, but the real pleasure is losing yourself in Hutong and trying to get to know its people speaking Chinese. The rooms are a little bit precarious, but that's normal for these prices of about 160 yuanes for a private room, or 40 yuanes for a shared room. If you're a backpacker, this is the place for you.

The Great Wall Sheraton Hotel Beijing
I only want to say that to stay in this hotel is recommended 100%. It is clean, it has an attentive staff, good rooms and a splendid breakfast, near the areas of the embassies, an area of restaurants and an entertainment zone better than the city. It is only 5 minutes away from a metro stop and two metro stops away from Tiananmen.

    Peking International Youth Hostel
In Beijing we stayed in a restored hutong located very close to the Forbidden City. It has a large common area and also a restaurant. The rooms have their own bathroom and are clean, but small. You can even book a spot on a trip to the Great Wall of China. We opted for the sections of wall that goes from Jinshanling to Simatai. This stretch took us a little out of Beijing but we were not disappointed.

    Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre
This hotel has it all - comfortable rooms, several restaurants with different cuisines, a shopping centre, a supermarket, an excellent breakfast, and the cherry on top, a German beer garden. It's also very well-located, close to the subway line 10.

    Shanglin Hostel
The hostel is Shanglin Hostel situated in Hutong close to Tiananmen Square, in the heart of of Beijing. Shanglin Hostel is an old building, a traditional Beijing hutong. The inside patio is nice and makes you feel as if you are in another era. The hostel has a room with many PCs connected to the Internet, available for free for guests. These PC's do not work very well. There is free wifi in public zones. There is a very nice lounge with a TV and a small area to lie down and have long conversations. There is also a Playstation, meals are served at reasonable prices. The menu is not varied. They have laundry for 10 Yuan (not cheap, more than in other hostels). Bike rentals for 20 yuan per day, but there are places where the price is half. All rooms in the Shanglin Hostel have air conditioning. Advisable to give a general overview of the rooms (a paint) and the bathrooms, which are somewhat old. The bedrooms have bunk beds with mattress. The 8 bed dorm with bathroom and the price is 50 yuan per person. The 4 bed dorms have no bathroom and the price is only 35 yuan per person. Double rooms with bath cost between 120 and 200 yuan and normal mattress beds have. Double rooms are cheaper on the roof, where you can admire the view across the hutong. The best way to get to Shanglin Hostel is to take the subway in Beijing (Beijing) to Hepingmen stops (preferred) or Qian Men. Along aa latter's metro stops for many buses, so this mode of transport is also suitable. From either 2 stops you arrive at the hostel after walking about 10 minutes. In Hostel offer a map with directions to help get there. CONCLUSION This hostel is interesting if you want to opt for the 4 bed dorms or if you want to be located near Tiananmen and in a quiet place. The living room is usually not very crowded and you can enjoy a movie lying "to the paunch".

    Jing Lun Hotel
Unbeatable location (metro Dang-Dong, exit B), near Wanfuging, the Silk Market, Tiananmen ... there is WIFI, 2-meter by 2-meter bed, daily mineral water bottles for for free for the guests. Bathrooms are full of details, service is very good and attentive, and the staff is always so friendly. There is even an iron and board in the room. It has a beautiful garden as you can see in the picture; There is also a good restaurant where you can eat at a buffet or off the menu. This is also where breakfast is served, which is varied and there is a lot to go around. There are other more sophisticated restauranst, we were going to enter but for lack of time we could not. Leaving the hotel to the right are restaurants of different classes, such as Italian ... Etc. Because the only bad thing with the hotel is that it is expensive, so you can eat next, right Following find the famous Silk Market. A 4 star hotel with a service as if it were five stars.

    Three Legged Frog Hostel
The Three Legged Frog hotel is located in the old Hutong near Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The hotel is one of the most affordable in this very expensive city, and is a good solution for those who come for a few days to renew their visa. The hostel has a happy hour with beers for 5 Yuan, and has nice rooms with comfortable beds. Breakfast is available, but is not included in the price. The Wi-Fi is free, and works well. Booking in advance is recommended, given the few rooms available.

    Qian Men Hostel
Near Tiananmen Square, on a very new road, this hostel has a great location. Prices here are very reasonable, about 10 euros per person for a night in a double room with a bathroom - and of course here are plenty of cheaper options. Breakfast is not included in the price, but costs about 2 euros, and has both Chinese and western options. The hostel organises various excursions, around the city or to places like the Great Wall, and will help you book train and plane tickets. The English-speaking staff are very welcoming, and the hostel has four computers connected to the internet. One problem is the winter (it hit -10 C during my visit), as the rooms are very poorly insulated, and hot water is unpredictable.

    Hotel Redwall
Just a few minutes walk from the back part of the Forbidden City, this hotel is an ideal place to stay if you want to visit Beijing. The hotel is renovated and the price is excellent. The area is very safe and the staff are quite friendly. Undoubtedly, I would recommend it.
