This hotel is in the econosystem Baía de Buenavista and is a UNESCO "Biosphere Reserve" and part of the Caribbean archipelago of Jardines del Rey. It is close to the airport "The Witches" and close to the heart of town in Santa Clara Caibarién. This Key, is one of the least known of the island of Cuba, which is why there is very little tourism and almost no Spanish. The way to get there is to rent a car, which is not recommended because the cars are not in the best condition and have a lot of fine print in the contract, if at the end you have the bad luck of having damage it will be a bitter trip with the settlement payment, or airplane using one of the many flights that link one part of the island with others, these flights are safe and the price is fair, Cubans have everything very organized in this regard. If one likes to enjoy calmness on their trip it is recommended, as it is away from Varadero and its luxury hotels at the end which stops you from getting to know the tastes and interests of the Cuban population. There is also the chance for water sports and getting to know the area in which it is immersed and the city of Santa Clara, a city closely linked to the figure of Che Guevara. The hotel is good, clean and has all the amenities of the resort, the food being bad not great, we must understand we are on an island where there are gaps typical of places like this.
The Best Accommodation for me in Cuba is definitely Hostal Jose Ramon.
Jose Ramon and his father, both of whom speak English, welcomed us with open arms and let us feel at home from the beginning. This is not a Room, it is an Apartment with private entrance, and contains 2 bedroom, bathroom (with hot shower), kitchen / dining room with fridge and stove and which is always important for the summer months, 2 air conditioning split. There is also a private rooftop in the second level with a few chairs and a sink. From this beautiful rooftop terrace you can see the Cuban everyday life. Jose Ramon is an architect by profession. He designed and built this apartment. The breakfast was wonderful. The best bread we have ever had in Cuba.
The hostel Roberto y Lidia is an apartment that is located on the second level of a family house. It is located in the center of the city of Santa Clara, it is perfect for families and for two couples of friends. The entrance to the apartment is by access staircase in the hall, the only common space with the family. The entire apartment is independent and for the exclusive use of guests who book accommodation, where privacy, comfort and security are guaranteed. The beds are distributed as follows: two single beds in one room, another double bed is located in another continuous área and connected to the previous one, both separated by a wall with an entrance door. Inside a bathroom, for private use for customers, with permanent supply of cold and hot water. Only one of the premises is air-conditioned with an air conditioning system, but both are ventilated with standing fans and large windows that allow the entry of fresh tropical air. Internet Wifi into the house.
Roberto and Lidia, the hosts, prepare exquisite dishes with typical Cuban recipes, which can be requested previously by the clients of the house. They also offer and coordinate services with the modern taxi of Wilfredo, who also lives in this house. Among the offers they make are: the transfer or pick up at the Santa Clara airport, City Tour of the city of Santa Clara, especially the Che Monument, the historic train that Che and his troops took. Excursions on the day, round trip, with a trip duration of only 1 h 20 min to the paradisiacal beaches of Cayo Santa María. They also propose the excursión to San Juan de Remedios and many more options. The house phone can be used for free to make local calls and to contact the next destination. Inform the family of your arrival time and it will be awaited at the point of arrival, if you wish.
