In Scotland Bed & Breakfasts are an institution, they are scattered around and offer great accommodation and adapted to almost all types of pockets. No reservation was required in any of the ones we stayed in and they had a great value for money. One of the nicest and most enjoyable was in the Cairngorms National Park in Glenmore Forest Park, on the B970 coming out of the town of Aviemore, up to Loch Morlich. Its owner, Carol, is a very nice Scottish woman (a common feature in all the Scots), she is highly educated has traveled around the world, as can be seen by the "library" of guide books in her lovely home. Carol gets excited talking about Japan, Canada and the many destinations she has been to. The house is beautiful, the exterior is all wood, the interior is fully refurbished and Carol offers a comfortable double room with bathroom for £50/night. The next morning breakfast is served in the lounge which has a large window overlooking the forest surrounding the Loch Morlich. It was a hearty Scottish breakfast enlivened with the talk of other guests, an English couple living in Italy who, like us, were touring Scotland. It is a highly recommended place for excursions in the area, the setting in the Glenmore Forest Park is fantastic and it is ideal if you want to disconnect, "lose" yourself and get away a bit from the usual tourist itineraries of Scotland.
