The Atholl Palace Hotel is situated in the Scottish town of Pitlochry, in the Parklands region, and only 500 meters from the Blair Atholl whiskey distillery. From here you have quick access to the main road routes through which you can visit the most important attractions and points of interest in this city.
In the gardens The Claymore in Pitlochry's main street, is the Claymore Hotel. An amazing place to enjoy your holiday and learn about nature. Enjoy views of the Cluniemore Hilles and free access to Wi-Fi. Walk for two minutes to reach the city center and bus and train stations. A little further away is Fish Ladder and Blair Castle. In The Claymore they do not serve dinner, but you can take your own food and drink to the breakfast room. LOCATION: A 90-minute drive from Glasgow and a little over 100 kilometers from the Scottish capital. Idneo is the place to spend the night if you're traveling from Edinburgh to Inverness. It is also good place to stay if you intend to visit Balmoral Castle and continue to Aberdeen. We decided to stay at the Hotel Fisher's 3 * mainly because it is one of the few establishments that have with triple or family options. Besides being in the center of town, it is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants.
FACILITIES: The hotel is an old Victorian house, which gives a certain aura of charm with its high ceilings and thick walls. It has 130 rooms (double and family). Facilities include a restaurant and bar, as well as a cozy lounge with a fireplace where performances are held live every night: pipers, magicians, comedians, etc. Breakfast is served from 07:30am to 10am (Monday to Friday) and from 8am to 10:30am (Saturdays and Sundays). The variety of Scottish breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausages and haggis) is passable. However the continental breakfast has little choice: bread, butter, a couple flavors of jam and chocolate mini muffins. It is enough to get by, but poor for the category of hotel. The hotel offers free WiFi connection in public areas in (surcharge of the rooms) and limited parking for which a reservation is not needed, although it is advisable to arrive early.
ROOMS: We were assigned a spacious family room on the first floor, overlooking a beautiful and quiet interior garden. The suite had two queen beds, dressers, as well as ample closet space. It also had a fireplace, a desk, a set of coffee and tea, plus a television and ironing board. However, the amenities were lacking considering it was a family room (minimum 3 people).
PRICE / BOOK: We stayed from June 28th to 29th 2014 (1 night) and paid 110 pounds (137 euros) for a triple suite bed and breakfast.
Located just eight kilometers west of Pitlochry, the "Loch Tummel Caravan Park Ardgualich Farm" is still virtually inaccessible for backpackers envhaissent the village, and it therefore guarantees a certain tranquility!
The road to access this site passes through the Scottish countryside, and camping in itself is opposite the beautiful lake " Tummel River ": indeed the view is splendid in the morning from your tent, especially since there is no fixed location, so you can put your tent wherever you want!
