The Barracuda Inn is a lovely resort in Watamu, which is a couple of hours from Mombasa airport. It's a great solution if you're planning to spend your holiday on the Kenyan coast. Guests at the resort, however, may decide to spend their days on the beach or by the pool and jacuzzi, which is located in an elevated position, on a terrace overlooking the sea. The buffet restaurant serves excellent fish dishes, and a wide variety of food. The rooms are very spacious and have a terrace or balcony, surrounded by a large garden, where you can see nice monkeys roaming free (better remember to close the windows). The activities to be carried out in the village are varied: water aerobics, beach volleyball ... evening entertainment in the amphitheatre, a TV room, and friendly, courteous staff.

The Tamani Jua is a small, three star hotel in the centre of Malindi. It is located about 300 metres from the tourist area, where you'll find the casino, the shopping malls, the shops, and the city's nightlife. The hotel consists of eight buildings, each with three units, set around a beautiful swimming pool surrounded by a lush garden. The highlight is undoubtedly the kitchen: thanks to the Italian management, you can enjoy delicious Mediterranean dishes, a wide variety from pasta to dessert. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and helping the tourist to feel at ease. The sea isn't too close, but there's a shuttle that transports guests to the Rosada, the beautiful beach where you can use umbrellas and loungers.
Sitting on the banks of the Galana River, enjoying the slow pace of savannah life, you can enjoy true tranquility, with the only sounds being those of nature. The slightly elevated position allows you to spot hippos soaking in the quiet water, and crocodiles sunbathing. Some Masai escort guests and entertain them with stories of the savannah. The rooms are furnished with private facilities. It also has a restaurant (international cuisine), a lounge bar, and a relaxation area (where maybe you'll want to sit and read 'Out of Africa').
We stayed for a month in this place, and although it's not perfect, it has won a place in my heart. The owner of this place doesn't take much of an interest in management, instead leaving the day-to-day affairs to the guys who work here. The property has great potential, located in the small village of Watamu, 200m from the beach, and the main street with banks, restaurants, and the market. There are dogs, cats, turtles and parrots. Our apartment was very large and comfortable. The biggest flaws are the mosquitoes (we went in February), and the mouse in our kitchen. But the boys made an effort, and caught him after a few days. The apartment costs 35 euro per day with use of the kitchen.
