The Tutti Frutti Hostel is one of the best in Krakow! Whenever I go to Krakow I try to stay there, but you have to book in advance, because it is so popular. It is 500 meters from the Church of Santa Maria and the Market Square. The only downside is that there is no elevator and you have to climb stairs. This very clean and rooms of 5, 8 ... with breakfast included!
If you want a central hostel in Krakow, the City hostel is ideal. It's not on Rynek, but on one of the parallel streets. It's close to the central stations, so if you have to make a connection, it's ideal. The price is very good, the rooms are very clean, and it included breakfast. The only downside is that there is no elevator and the stairs are long with many stories. When I go to Krakow, I don't usually go to this hostel, but the one I normally stay in had no free beds so I stayed at this one and loved it!
What a wonderful apartment in Krakow. It is 5 minutes walk from the central train station, which is right in the centre of the city. In terms of sightseeing, you can take the road in front (Pedzichow), which joins a larger one, Dluga, and takes you to the Barbican (medieval fortification) and the door of St Florian, the main entrance to the Old City. The apartment has a very modern design, and is spacious and clean, with everything you could possibly want. There is a living room and a huge kitchen, with dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, and hob.
The dining room has a round table with 4 chairs and three-seater sofa, LCD TV 37" Samsung and Philips DVD. There's a large bathroom with a tub and great water pressure in the shower, washing machine, hair dryer, iron, vacuum cleaner and spare towels and sheets. All gorgeous and squeaky clean. The bedroom has a double bed with a comfy mattress, a pretty decent wardrobe (there are three in the apartment) and indirect lighting that give a minimalist and intimate feel. There's also a folding bed if you are going with children. It has a large balcony overlooking the main street, parking in the same building and 24h porter. It cost 65 € per night, but it was really worth it.
I stayed here on the recommendation of a friend, and was happy that I did. This hostel is mostly popular with young backpackers, and costs 10 euros a night. It is perfectly located in the centre of Krakow on Szeweska Street, right on the city's main square. The price is pretty good, with a buffet breakfast. There's a common kitchen that's very well-equipped, and a common room with everything ... TV, games, books in other languages, computers with internet, etc. The staff are young and friendly, happy to recommend places to visit or party locations. The bathrooms are also very clean and well-equipped. Apparently it was named the world's best hostel by Hostelworld in 2010, and you can see various accolades hanging on the walls.
As well as being really cheap - about 30 euros a night for two people with a private bath - and the great location, right next to the Old Town and five minutes walk from the train and bus stations, what most caught my attention was the attention to detail. The rooms are simple and basic, it's true, but they have vases filled with flowers, hairdryers, and a basket of toiletries in the bathroom. The rooms are clean and quiet, and the owners are friendly and helpful. You'll find linens, towels, coffee, a kettle, and maps of the city. You'll definitely feel right at home.
Loved, loved, loved it! Not only because it's a brand new hostel, but also because you can borrow a bike here! For a few days I had a great mountain bike to explore the city. It's a very welcoming hostel, without many guests (I think about 10). The rooms are warm, with TV, fridge, and private bathroom. You can borrow a playstation. The stove isn't bad, though it's a bit small. For me, the biggest drawback is that it's not in the centre of the city, but you can take a 10 minute walk, the tram, or the bike, so it's not too bad. Great value!
