This hotel is located in a historical building: the old convent of the Dominicos de San Pablo, built in the 16th century. It's found in the outskirts of the city, in front of the famous Casas Colgadas. To get there you have to cross the iron bridge above the Hoz del Huécar. The building, as well as the environment and the views, is very beautiful. The building maintains its original architecture. The premises are situated around the central cloister and covered with windows so it can be used as a cafeteria.
My room was huge, with a rural surface (covered with a carpet) and wooden furniture of rural style, in line with the aesthetics of the old convent. Over the headboards there was a sort of canopy. In front of the bed there was a piece of furniture that looked like an old cupboard where the TV and the minibar were hidden. Next to it there was a full body mirror and a living room area with two small armchairs and a low table. From the window we had spectacular views of the gorge of Huecar River. The bathroom was also quite large, with everything you need, including a hairdryer.
Without a doubt it is worth paying a little more sometimes to stay in the Paradores. I really like staying in this kind of historical buildings.
This parador is an old castle. It is smaller than other paradores but this is precisely why it is so appealing, even though the most charming feature is the architecture and its magical enclave.
The municipality of Alarcón, full of monuments, makes this place mysterious and literally legendary, giving the impression that the majestic parador we first see when we arrive is the eternal guard of the village. The front view of the castle is so majestic that one feels really small when getting there. The courtyard gives way to the reception, the rooms of the tower, the bar, and the standard rooms. The rooms are cozy, comfortable and match very well with the rest of the place.
Between Cuenca and a small village called Jabaga, there is a spectacular holiday cottage that offers visitors many services. To begin with, the environment is superb. Moreover, the house is really taken care of. You can see that the owners have taken it seriously and are experts in rural tourism. The clients are treated with an impeccable manner. The rooms are very large and very well decorated, the breakfast is luxurious and the wine prepared for dinner is amazing... They are also in charge of organizing sport activities such as ATVs and kayaks. All in all, it is an ideal place to stay a few days near Cuenca in the middle of nature.
The Torremangana Hotel is a four stars one, with a good value for money. It is easy to find coming from Madrid, thanks to good indications. It is in the blue parking zone, so you should book parking in the Hotel, but do it in advance because it will be most probably full if you don't. The blue zone anyway doesn't apply anymore from 2 pm on Saturdays and during the whole day on Sundays.
Located in the old part of town, it is 30 minutes away from the Plaza Mayor walk, which you can't miss for it is beautiful with those houses painted in pastel colors. Uphill, like everywhere in the old part of Cuenca, so you should wear comfortable shoes. If you prefer, close to the hotel there are two bus lines going to Plaza Mayor.
The staff is very nice and helps you with any doubt you might have about the transportation to use. I liked the hotel decoration with local motifs and handicrafts, even though you can see the hotel is getting older. The rooms are large and comfortable, although forget about views, there is nothing to see from the hotel. I can't tell you about the food because I had neither breakfast, lunch nor dinner in the hotel.
This is one of the most central hotels in Cuenca with recently renovated rooms, many with panoramic views of the old part of the city of Cuenca. Room number "501" is very nice. The restaurant is located on the 7th floor of the hotel and features great views.
Finally I have found my hotel! It is ideal for every type of travelers, a couple like us, families or a group of friends.
It has all services available and even more... We stayed in the suite and it is perfect, the decoration sublime, the television gigantic, the leather couch... The spectacular spa, you can see the illuminated church at night through the window while you enjoy a bath in the jacuzzi at candle light and relaxing music playing, or a massage couch that will recharge your batteries... All this for only 30€
The complex has a game room with a macro-projector with the Wii, a ping pong table, a pool, table football, etc. Everything for free. But
