Although this place is already on the site as a ¨hotel,¨ I think the experience goes more along the lines of a ¨restaurant,¨ seeing as the hotel has an excellent restaurant that I recently ate at for the second time.
This is the type of restaurant that you like the second you walk through the doors. It´s located within a highly regarded palace, with a big history coat of arms on the facade. The inside is enclosed by stone walls. They were restored with care and make for the perfect modern decoration, as do the classic paintings, the tables, the chairs, etc.
The food is simply spectacular. During the week they offer a special menu of the day that goes for about 16 € (not a bad price, but not a place to eat at every day either), but the quality of the menu is what makes the trip worth it. The food served is of the upmost quality.
The menu is extensive and varied, with traditional dishes with a modern touch thanks to chef Mikel Garmedia. If you go during a weekend, it´s 100% recommended to order from the special weekend menu. It costs 30 € per person (including drinks and coffee), and will knock your socks off. The quality is excellent, the portions are right on, and all comes in a modern presentation.
If you go as a couple, you have the option to share four different entrees, plus a good second dish (the duck sampling is great) and finish it off with the most appetizing desert. I think that the quality/price relationship is very good. Definitely a place worth trying!
