Located in the small town of Oakhurst, 15 miles from the south entrance of Yosemite National Park, this budget hotel is clean and charming. It has large and comfortable beds, rooms decorated with traditional American furniture, and frescoes on the walls painted with images of the national park. The hotel offers free ice to customers, and free wifi internet connection. There are souvenir shops and a restaurant where you can taste the best dishes of California state. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's located on the edge of town, but still very close to all the facilities you need. A great choice to stay without having to pay excessive accommodation prices in the middle of a forest.
If you're planning on visiting the southern end of Yosemite, staying in the nearby town of Oakhurst can make just as much sense as staying inside the park. This inn offers a convenient location and better value compared to the park lodging. No problems finding it - there's really only one main road in Oakhurst! The inn itself is comfortable, with a pretty garden outside and lots of seating.
Rooms are nicely outfitted; we had the Country Quilt room, which was perfectly adequate with a queen size bed, TV, and plenty of room to store our things. Clean, comfortable, and quiet - everything we need, especially at an affordable price!
The inn offers free wine in their common room and breakfast (8-10am), but neither worked for our busy schedule. Luckily, it's a quick walk to El Cid, a Mexican restaurant with good food, affordable prices, great margaritas, and fast service.
To Yosemite, it's about a 25-minute drive. I'd highly recommend an early start to the day so that you can arrive before all the crowds do. At a popular park like this one, it can make a big difference.
Only downside was no shower curtain - not sure why???
