I had Cooper out on a guy's only camping outing, and we were driving down the Bitterroot, dodging slow-moving showers. I checked the radar while I still had 4G, and it looked like Lolo Canyon would stay dry at least through supper. About 30 minutes later we pulled into this small campground and found a spot the foot of the mountain with lots of forest cover. Cooper played in a tiny stream that flowed through our campsite while I made dinner. After dinner we walked down to Lolo Creek -- here, wide and slow and shallow. Heading back to our tent, Cooper picked and followed every tiny trail he could find, some of which just went a few feet before ending. A half-hour later, after insisting he was not tired, he was asleep face down on a picnic table.
