Here the waters of the two great oceans that wash upon the shores of America meet together: the Pacific and the Atlantic. We took a boat trip to the lighthouse we Eclaireurs, the southernmost lighthouse in the world (not to be confused with the lighthouse at the end of the world featured in the novel by Jules Verne). This point is called Isla de los Lobos, and it is well known for being the natural habitat of enormous sea lions. The cold here is intense (do not forget to take your gloves and hat with you). In the boulders there are cormorants living and, depending on the time, sometimes there are also penguins.

Last town before Antarctica

The Beagle Channel has a special place in evolutionary biology and was the site of many of Charles Darwin's observations about how living things change and adopt to their environment. It is also synonymous with adventure!

As our world changes, even the ends of the world become more readily available for us to visit. The town of Ushuaia, which sits on the Beagle Channel is the southern most town before Antarctica. The opportunity and the gift of being able to see nature in its untouched form comes with responsibility for the traveler to be an advocate for conservation.
