Vaboir Lodge Hotel is located in the northern part of Bangkok. It is in a good location for a big city like Bangkok. It has all of the attractions at more or less the same distance. As we were going to move around the country on a few occasions and we wanted to return to the same hotel each time we chose this one as it was not too far from the airport and not too far from the temple area or the shopping area. From this hotel, to get down to the shopping area we got a taxi to drop us off at the metro stop called Ladprao as the road is very long and from here we could go to different places such as the pratunam market area, Chatuchak, mbk, Hua Lampong station, etc... Its not the best hotel if you only want to go to the temple areas as there are no transport services except taxis or tuk tuks. To get to the temples or to Khao San Road we would go directly by taxi for no more than 300 or 400 baht (6 or 8 euros). This 3-star hotel cost us about 10 euros per night and is more than good for that price. It has a laundry service, internet, air conditioning and a TV in the rooms, a restaurant and an outdoor area for lunches or dinners and entertainment. You know, if you go back more than once to Bangkok and do not want to be too far from the airport I recommend this hotel. Greetings.
Near the Julie Guest House is JJ Guest House, where we stayed. There are clean rooms with bathrooms and space for hanging your clothes. There is a chill-out area in the hostel, which is right in the heart of Chiang Mai. At first, I went to Julie Guest House thanks to the recommendation of a recognized guide, but the service was so bad that I turned around and found this smaller and cozier place. It's just my humble opinion, and I know that many backpackers would have stayed in Julie and would have been happy, maybe they were having a bad day, but we were not at fault. Here are some photos of the sleeping area.
The hostel Green Tulip House is one of the best in Chiang Mai if you want to sleep in a bedroom, in which case the price is 150 Bhats (just over 3 €) per night, breakfast not included. This is a relatively new hostel and known for its cleanliness, which led it to win an international award in 2008. The Hall of the hostel has a diningroom, living room and internet room with a couple PC's, but they are free of charge to use. Guests can use the wireless Internet (WiFi) for free if you have your own laptop. They also have a garage for motorcycles and good music blaring in the Hall. The price for a double room is 450 Bhats, breakfast not included and the price for a double room 2 Bhats is 850, including breakfast. For that price there are better options in Chiang Mai. The staff is very fun. They have lots of tourist info and good prices for trekking and cookery courses. In short it is a highly recommended place for backpackers when visiting this city in Thailand.
If you're traveling in Thailand, staying at one of the Hostelling International hostels doesn't make much sense because the local guest houses and private hostels tend to be better and cheaper. That being said, the Hi Baan Thewet was wonderful. It's a small hostel (only 20 beds), but the people who work there are very friendly and speak very good English. Located in a very quiet area.
It is beautiful and simple, where there is only natural light, the birds singing and a river in the jungle. All this with the friendliness and hospitality of Thai professionals. It's a different experience that you will enjoy.
A hotel which meets all of my requirements: comfortable, clean, with free wifi, a great price and location. I was there for just one night, but it was enough to decide that I'll stay there again if I go back. There's a simple breakfast, and the reception has a concierge service, with offers like booking the ferry to Phi Phi Island with transfer included, etc. The staff speak English, and are very helpful, offering free water, snacks, and bathroom amenities. Simple but fully functional!
The Hotel Same is more like a guesthouse than a hotel. It doesn't have many rooms available, and it's worth it for the location, less than 500 metres from Patong Beach and in a very central avenue. Prices are attractive; we paid just over 10 euros for a nice room with all the facilities.
This beautiful and peaceful guesthouse, near the historic center, is less than 8 dollars overnight with private bathroom. Very clean, super fast internet (download movies to kill the wait) and very friendly owner. Pretty cheap, and good. Super recommended.
