Rockcliffe

Although this town is famous for its spectacular rocky beach, with beautiful views, it is also well-known locally for its exclusive atmosphere. The Victorian-style houses are home to some really wealthy people.

Some research told me that this was one of the first settlements in the area, because the rocky beach creates a bay that makes for excellent natural protection against both wind and storms and potential invaders and attackers (something very common in pre-medieval Scotland, with the Vikings). Today it is a strange place, the atmosphere a little more English than Scottish. There are no grocery stores, but there's an antiques shop that offers coffee and cakes.
