Bali Gate

Gilimanuk arc is called Bali Gate, being named after a town a few km further along. Apparently, before the existence of airports and other piers were built in the area and on the island, this was the only entry route for traders and emigrants and immigrants coming from neighbouring Java. The arch, which appears suddenly in the half-empty road reminds me of Marbella, or those Middle Eastern cities that welcome visitors by passing beneath a gigantic architectonic show. In this case, the exoticism of its design, shows delusions of grandeur and transforms it into something worth seeing, especially if you think about it is a huge arc of four pillars adorned with four dragons corresponding to the four cardinal points.
