Hermitage with Views

The Argimon Hermitage is located in the municipality of Riudarenas, the forest region of the province of Girona and like the massive Montseny, the Argimon is visible from almost any point in the town. This sanctuary was built in a castle of the same name, records dating from the year 925 and was part of the dominions of the Viscounts of Cabrera in the 11th century. It had jurisdiction over the parishes of Riudarenas, Castanyet, Vallcanera, the Esparra and Sant Pere of Cercada. The castle was razed by the prince and future king John I in 1367 transformed when a Viscount of Cabrera revolted against King Peter and led to the ejection of the Viscount.
