One of the surprising things about Panama: is that on Saturday afternoons is that the women go out with curlers in their hair so that they can get ready for their Saturday night plans without missing their chance to go to the market! Other people scream out offers for you to use their phone for 25 cents a minute. In the street, the buses have a horn-blowing contest. One has the Lambada, another has la Cucaracha, and the last one has Swan Lake! There are stores with cheap apparel that blast an ugly sound that makes you deaf, and a climate that freezes you, to feel in passing on the sidewalk, because all of the doors and windows are open.
