Trim- capital of the 5th and 6th centuries

The capital of County Meath is Trim (today is Navan), a place of 7000 people which dates back to the Fundação a monastery. The story goes that it was the work of St. Lomman or Loman, and that it was constructed between the fifth and sixth centuries. Its symbol is the Trim Castle or Castillo de Lacy. Trim Castle is a Norman fortress, the biggest in Western Europe still standing, and was constructed in the 12th century after the Norman invasion of Ireland. It was where the movie Braveheart happened, and where Mel Gibson filmed in the year 1995. Visit the Trim Visitor Centre, where you can see a visual on the subject and find info on all the points of interest.
