Flora en Caleta Valdés

1 review of Flora en Caleta Valdés

Argentinian Isthmus

The Isthmus of Carlos Ameghino (1885/1936) is named in honour of a passionate Argentinian paleontologist. It is joined to the mainland and in the south it's surrounded by the waters of Golfo Nuevo. In the north by the San Jose waters. It is the gateway to one of the "Protected Areas", Valdes Peninsula declared "World Heritage Site" in 1999. One of these points is the steppe of "Caleta Valdes", a "Tourist Natural Reserve" since 1983 due to its rich flora and fauna, particularly marine wildlife. Here we find the first Save the Wildlife Centre of the Province and in addition to the spectacular scenery offered by the waters of the Gulf, we see different signs indicating what flora we can find here, as well as their uses (mainly medicinal, but also for astringents, making soap, magical purposes etc).
