The most notable feature of these species is the presence of a huge sexual dimorphism, the highest among all species of mammals. The males can reach up to 6 m or more in length and up to four tons, while the females do not exceed 3 m and 900 kg. The males also have an elongated snout which is kind of like a short trunk. It is for this reason that they have earned the nickname elephant seals.
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this peninsula is one of the most beautiful places in Argentina. You should visit place such as: Puerto Madryn (great beach area and diving clubs), Puerto Piramides (whale watching) and Punta Tombo (penguins). Coastal marine life is abundant and varied. Whales and dolphins come to the shores to mate.
Punta Tombo penguin is a reserve which is located 120km from the city of Trelew. This picture was taken with my camera in September 2011. It is a beautiful place to learn about! There are no places to stay, you go sightseeing or in tour groups by car. Also 100km away you can find Lobería and Camarones which are beautiful places to stay and they are fishing areas. Also in lindeas stays can see these specimens of fauna patagonica "El Guanaco" there in large numbers feeding on pasture and are found in large groups.
This beautiful, 40 kilometre park is in southern Argentina, with a dirt road and lots of campsites for tents. The best campsite is the friendly Rivadavia Campsite, which lies right on Lake Rivadavia. It's a family campground with all amenities! It's a very beautiful place with lots to do. Arriving by car is the best.
Situated in the town of Lake Puelo (northwest of the province of Chubut) there is a National Park which has the same name. The whole area is a result of intense glacial activity which gave rise to the valleys and basins which, as they thawed, formed lakes. From here you can see the Valdivian Rainforest and it is an excellent place to relax in contact with nature. You can also enjoy long walks and go camping.
Between August and November, hundreds of Southern Right whales reach the coast of Argentina to mate. You can see them jumping, shooting clouds of water into the air and fearlessly swimming between the boats full of tourists. They arrive at Puerto Madryn, in Argentina, a tourist town in the province of Chubut. Normally you can hire a boat trip to navigate between them, but they can also be seen from the coast. I was much amazed when, while strolling through Puerto Madryn, I suddenly saw the tail of a whale.
This is true paradise. Here you go to sleep with one beautiful landscape and you wake up to another one. It is so great that its beauty appears to be endless. I'd go back to climb up Tonchita, it is beauty in a nutshell. You have to visit for yourself because I can not explain such beauty, my dream is to go back there.
This beach has pebbles and deep water which is only 19 km. Madryn, is one of those beaches that is characterizable because it enables us to see from the coast to one of the biggest mammals on earth. Since the launch of the season in June, sightings are happen every year. An unforgettable experience, ensuring the observation from ships equipped and secure with whale guides. It is between June and November when the tide begins to rise and whales start to appear and give birth to be the waters of this calm and quiet place. It Is a Municipal Protected Area which is guarded. The data is from the official tourism website of Puerto Madryn.
Puerto Piramides offers an unrivaled type of tourism, consisting of Whale Watching (Southern Right Whale)in medium and semi-rigid boats that accommodate up to 40 and 60 people. It's an unique experience because the tourist comes face to face with these impressive whales approaching the coast of Patagonia. The sightings are guided, and usually last an hour and half, but can vary depending on the tour chosen. The whales come to these shores from June to December. This is highly recommended for those who love nature and the sea ...
There are some pictures of Doradillo where whales are seen from the coast and, with great sadness, that day saw a specimen killed off the central coast of Puerto Madryn, as some number who die there or get stranded on the coast (sometimes, people and rescue workers have saved them and returned them to the sea). They don´t know the cause of death. (In Puerto Madryn you can find the central CENPAT oceanographic center where they study these cases). Some mentioned the lack of food (krill) or loss of orientation. This picture was taken on September 27, 2010 with my kodak camera.
It was in January 2008, when we reached Chubut, in southern Argentina, with my family, Gustavo and my daughters Khadra and Paula, for holidays with Gustavo spent fly fishing, among all the beautiful images you see there I took these, The River and Lake Rivadavia, take these. We have added trips and photos here
You have to find this city completely industrial. I can say that I am a tourist, for living in one of its neighborhoods. The course that I am studying I learn day after day that a CR can be promoted like a tourist place. There are places in the CR that a tourist needs, aventure, recreation, nature, food and shelter, but these are the basic things needed at the destination. Consider this as one of the biggest places in Patagonia, but the natives usually say that somethings its quite girly.
This is a very interesting museum in the city of Trelew. In the past, one can return to watching dinosaurs. What is interesting about this museum is that the remains are in very good condition. The museum is very entertaining and interactive.
Punta Ninfas is located near Puerto Madryn, one of Aregentina's Chubut coast's main attractions. Here, in particular, you can do things unthinkable in most other places, like find yourself face to face with killer whales. Despite their name, killer whales generally leave humans alone (unless their bothered), so you can enjoy them from the water’s edge and see how they stalk their prey: baby sea lion
Below the cliffs of Punta nymphs near the Hotel El Pedral, and a few kilometers from Puerto Madryn, is a large square that contains a large amount of elephant seals, amongst other aquatic species. They are harmless, unless they are attacked, which is forbidden. You should, therefore, keep your distance to avoid provoking them. These animals are outstanding, and and can be found in groups on the hard stones from the beaches of Punta Nymphs.
The first home was built in Gaiman in 1874 and belonged to David D. Roberts. He and his family were considered to be the first inhabitants here. The first Argentine born descendent of the Welsh inhabitants was Dewi Roberts called Idris. Locals knew it as the Stone House, which nowadays is a museum. It's arranged with furniture, ornaments and furnishings from the time. The roof was rebuilt, however the rest of the house has been kept in very good condition. All information refers to the official Gaiman tourism page.
