1 review of Fortrose Cathedral

A real historical treasure, Episcopal cathedral

Excellent

Fortrose Cathedral is in the town of the same name 25 minutes north of the city of Inverness, in the county of Ross. Constructed in the 13th century, this cathedral was the episcopal of the medieval diocese of Ross County, one of the most northerly of all the UK. The use of the red stone for the building of this cathedral is emphasized. According to historical documents religious activity always existed here, prior to the construction of this cathedral. Structural reforms are known during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, due to many donations and grants made by powerful families in the zone.
