Hunedoara Cathedral

The Hunedoara Cathedral is in the center of town, on the way to the beautiful medieval castle. The cathedral is not very valuable, but it's a very large building that dominates the neighborhood. It's a newly built orthodox cathedral, dedicated to Konstantin and Elena. It has a Byzantine style, and its structure is that of the Hunedoara architect, Dumitru Berechet. On the outside, there are mosaics and depictions of saints and scenes from the Bible. The church was consecrated in the 1940's, and recently renovated to restore the relics and mosaics. Its facade has arches held up by marble columns, which were built by artists from the capital.
