The Indus River in Ladakh Region

The mythical river Indus, one of the longest in Asia, is 3000-kilometers long and flows across northern India and Pakistan from its source at a height of 5500 meters in Tibet. Following its course slowly through the region of Ladakh is a fascinating experience. The only road out of Leh (a city located in eastern India) is in the direction of Kargil(located in the west of Kashmir) and crosses the valley, as if the Indus was the only way out of this remote region in the Himalayas. Always desolate, squeezed between towering brown mountains, the river changes color as if to hypnotize you. It is sometimes blue, sometimes green, sometimes turquoise.

Indus River

This spectacular river that starts high up in the mountains of China, crosses between the mountains of Ladakh and Zanskar mountains from west to east. The river flows for nearly 3.000 meters. From the top of the bus and when the millions of potholes permitted me, I beheld a true wildlife documentary and inóspita at high altitude. The conditions are extreme live here all year round. This river is the only source of life that have several million people. Looks like a exajeración but once here you realize that maybe I have fallen short
