João Alvares Pagundes Monument

This sculpture is at the commercial dock (Doca), opposite the Navio Gil Eannes and is dedicated to João Pagundes Alvares, a Portuguese navigator. The monument consists of a rather high granite pedestal, on which the bronze sculpture of this character stands. The body of the sailor is done in such a way that it looks like the prow of a ship.
