Monument to the Volunteer Firefighter

At the end of the Avenida Liberdade, reaching the corner of Plaza 5 de Octubre, is this monument that's dedicated to the volunteer firefighter (very similar to Spain's Civil Protection authority). It's a bronze statue depicting a heroic firefighter saving a child in his arms and is surrounded by a small garden. It's unusual in that it was the first monument of its kind in Portugal.
