Lake Mead

Traveling from Las Vegas towards the Grand Canyon, following the dusty roads of the arid desert, I found the biggest reservoir in the US: Lake Mead! This is the 16th largest artificial lake in the world, formed when the Hoover Dam was built across the Colorado River, and it fills an area of 1.5 million acres. The scenery is stunning...a beautiful blue lake with whitish edges, surrounded by jagged mountains of red earth scattered with desert vegetation.
