Le Sirop de la Rue

This beautiful little shop is a must stop on the Rue Saint Jean in the old Gothic Quarter of Lyon, especially if you want to bring home some souvenirs. There are mostly food products available; sausages, hams and Andouillettes sausages that are typical of the region, as well as canned ready meals that only have to be heated to remind you of your visit to the city. The store also has silk products, an industry that was very important in Lyon at the time, but with the cost of labor it began to decline during the past century. In this small space, it seems that there are a thousand things to buy and it can be difficult to choose.
