Marché de la Darse

This colorful market is situated in the basin of one of the 6 springs of Pointe-à-Pitre, at the place where the ferries depart for the nearby islands. It is just down the Rue St. John Perse, on the corner of Quai Layrle and directly opposite the Place de la Victoire. It is a food market where you can buy fruits and vegetables and freshly caught fish from local fishermen. The market is semi-brick built with a metal roof. Although the current building was constructed in 1985, this market has a tradition in the area since the nineteenth century. It is open from Monday to Saturday, from 6am to 2pm.
