Francisco Sanches Memorial

This monument is in front of the garden and fountain in Largo São João do Souto square, in the historic center. It's a bronze sculpture of Francisco Sánchez, philosopher, mathematician and Spanish physician nicknamed "the skeptic". On both sides there are granite plates with inscriptions honoring his work. The monument was made by sculptor Salvador Barata Feyo and was placed in this square as he was baptized in the Church of São João do Souto here (he was converted Jew).
