Virgen de la Vega Museum

1 review of Virgen de la Vega Museum

Virgen de la Vega Museum

With an independent entrance on the side of the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de la Vega, you’ll find museum dedicated to the patron saint of Haro: la Virgen de la Vega.

The museum, which is free to the public, gathers together the precious collection of torches which are paraded during the Faroles de Cristal procession, a festivity dating back to 1918 and declared touristic interest in la Rioja. Held every September 8th, the festival originally used candles to accompany the Virgin but these were replaces by the torches.

The exhibit also shows off some of the historical documentation from the Cofradía de la Virgin de la Vega, as well as offerings, religious garb, and various decorative elements of the Virgin (crowns, shawls, rosaries, etc.).
