Old Courthouse

In 1752, the seminary of Sainte Garde bought an old monastery that had been in this location since 1640. Avignon, capital of the Popes and the epicenter of the Catholic religion had dozens of monasteries. Lambertin rebuilt the chapel in 1770 into a very well decorated Corinthian. It was consecrated in 1775. It was the last religious structure built before the French Revolution, which destroyed many of the monasteries and churches from 1789 on. In 1792, the buildings were occupied by the city court, and for this reason they were renewed with a more secular style. The chapel was the courtroom from 1829 and was separated in two by a wall.
