Bishop's Palace

Kielce was the summer resort of the Bishops of Krakow and it shows in the old part of the city. The most famous and beautiful building is the Palace of the Bishops, it has nothing to envy the buildings of downtown Krakow. Currently the palace houses a branch of the National Museum with an important gallery of Polish paintings. Permanent exhibitions include 17th-18th century Western European paintings, 17th-20th century Polish paintings, applied art, archeology, numismatics and armory. The palace was built in the 17th century, after the nationalization of the property of the bishops in 1789, the palace was home to several institutions until it was transferred to the city of Kielce.
