Potes

Potes is a magnificent city, with a special charm, that allows you to stroll in its streets calmly and without hurry.

You can go down to the river, explore under its bridges, and rest next to its crystalline waters, all the while looking for a good place to eat and gazing at the peculiar views of the ancient fountains.

It’s full of interesting places to photograph and it’s a real pleasure for the senses. The area has wonderful landscapes. I wonder how it must look in the fall.

Potes is an ancient town with dark stones and buildings from different time periods. If you park in the old part of town you’ll discover wonderful places full of special charm.

It’s located at the confluence of the Quiviesa, Deva and Bullón Rivers, which is why you can hear the murmur of water as you walk the streets. The San Cayetano Bridge is beautiful, and if you can cross it you can admire the river and the great old houses and medieval buildings.

Despite being tucked away in a valley, there is a strategic high point to get great views of Potes.

It's a cluster of houses, which from above seems to be almost superimposed and surrounded by vegetation that seems impossibly bright green in color. It's a real treat for the senses.

I spent my recent vacations doing a tremendously gratifying castle route, the highlight of which was our stop in Potes.

It's an amazingly addictive little town. The streets, homes, and above all the people are wonderful and I discover something new every time I go. It's just that magical! Since we were visiting castles and citadels, the Infanta tower was a given on the list, but we also discovered the Orejón de la Lama tower and another one whose name I can't recall.
