This great temple of devotion to Mary stands at the top of Canet de Mar, overlooking the town. This great building was constructed in the mid-nineteenth century style, dwarfing the population, particularly when it was just a small fishing village. It is one of the first churches of the Gothic style built in Catalonia. It has a single nave, in the style of medieval churches, and although its external appearance is sober, the richness of the Gothic ornamental style is visible in its facade.
