2 reviews of St. Mary from the Alcazaba

the stronghold of Jerez

This is the stronghold of Jerez. It is a construction that was built around a large central courtyard. It is a work of masonry with ashlar angle braces in their square towers staking and strategic hubs with variable heights in the paintings between eight and twelve meters. From there you can see St. Mary of the Incarnation, the temple is the oldest of all those found in Jerez de los Caballeros. Inside there is an inverted column on which I could read the inscription "on the ninth day of the Kalends of January, of the 594 this church was dedicated to St. Mary."
