The Borromées Islands

4 reviews of The Borromées Islands

You must not miss a visit to these three islands

You must not miss a visit to these three islands, situated on Lake Maggiore in northern Italy (130 km from Milan). The Borromées islands are still wild and you can admire the rare vegetation. Isola Madre, the largest, is covered with exotic gardens. Isola Bella, the most famous island, which is famous for its 17th Century baroque castle. In the castle, we recommend visiting the rooms, which are beautifully decorated with wall paintings and a painting by Leonardo da Vinci. There are beautiful gardens with covered terraces, housing exotic plants, including orange trees. Finally there is the Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen´s Island), which is the smallest island, but it is unique because of its streets and small houses of fishermen.
