The Veneza ice cream parlour is on the Boulevard Canal, where you can also find clothing stores, perfumer's, jeweler's, etc. The ice cream is delicious. My favourites include Romeo and Juliet, Maracuja with chocolate, macadamia and Ovomaltine. The coffee is tasty and strong, and they also have very good-looking pies and cakes, which I haven't tried. It's worth going here to enjoy some ice cream in this city of canals.
A small, simple shop hidden away but full of delights! After we discovered it, we came back every day for a week! The Ovomaltine pie is peerless. Made with Brigadeiro and chocolate filling, I can honestly say I've never eaten a chocolate cake as delicious. The coconut cakes are also wonderful, and the savouries, like salted chicken pie, are delicious, too. A piece of cake costs R $ 4.50. The whole Ovomaltine cake, which I also bought, costs R $ 43.00. Worth every piece, and every bite.
La Gondole restaurant in Cabo Frio is a charming, cozy place. The Italian chef came to Brazil after marrying a Brazilian, and subsequently opened the restaurant. Mr Felipo, the restaurant manager, tells everyone this story, going from table to table chatting and making customers feel at home. The atmosphere is lovely, and you don't need to dress up. Individual dishes vary from R $ 28 to R $ 45. The restaurant is decorated with charming Venetian masks, and serves Italian and French food like pasta, fish, and even duck. They accept cheques, and credit and debit cards. The site is equipped with ramps for people with disabilities and is open Monday to Saturday, from 18h to 00h, and Sundays for lunch 24:00-15: 30. It's really worth trying this great restaurant!
The Trattoria de Asis is a cozy restaurant near Cape Frio. Here they make thin-crust pizzas, which are absolutely delicious, and well-priced. They also serve pasta and meat dishes. The service is excellent, and very friendly. Worth a visit after the beach!
