Belonging to a Finnish restaurant chain, this location is in the center of Rovaniemi. It's a cozy and romantic place where you can taste reindeer meat prepared in numerous ways. Large tables and comfortable armchairs accompany a meal to make it as relaxed as possible. To take advantage of the situation, we ordered every kind of reindeer meat possible to share. The dishes are plentiful and the price is normal for Finland, but the opening hours are longer than other places, which is a bonus. Highly recommended.
I don't think that a McDonald's is the most original thing to recommend. But I'm doing so because it's the most northern location in Europe and therefore, it has its charm. I'm not sure what kind of meat it was, because it was quite dry, but with ketchup and mustard, it was more or less edible. The McDonald's is at the end of the pedestrian street of Rovaniemi, where you can find a shopping centre, travel agencies, car rentals and souvenir shops.
Without a doubt the Ravintola Nili is one of the best restaurants you can go if you want to try authentic Finnish cuisine. The restaurant is fully set in a Finnish log cabin that will make you feel like you're in the woods. I recommend starting with a tasting of their best recipes, and ending, of course, with a generous bite of reindeer.
This quaint little restaurant belongs to the Finnish band Lordi, which won the Eurovision Festival in 2006. The "Rocktaurant" is located in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, in Tommi singer's hometown Putaansuu.
The restaurant is known for its rock decor which includes dedications of several famous singers and groups like Ozzy Osbourne. It is a fast food restaurant, pretty cheap and the quality is good. They serve pizzas (with reindeer meat as an ingredient for example but there are many to choose from), kebabs, burgers and sushi, chicken, and salads.
The times that I've been here, the portions are quite generous. The kebab and pizzas seem small but are quite hearty. Trust me, you will be full. You can also refill your soda whenever you want and pay only the first cup. The best thing about this place is that they play rock and heavy metal music , which is not normally heard everywhere when you go to eat, though in Finland it is more normal. This is an interesting place and cheap for Finland, but if you like that sort of aesthetic or music, maybe it's not your type of place ... Hehehehe
Here you can also have a coffee etc. and enjoy their covered terrace.
