Restaurants in Rovaniemi
Fransmanni Restaurant
Belonging to a Finnish restaurant chain, this location is in the center of Rovaniemi. It's a cozy and romantic place where you can taste reindeer meat prepared in numerous ways. Large tables and comfortable armchairs accompany a meal to make it as relaxed as possible. To take advantage of the situation, we ordered every kind of reindeer meat possible to share. The dishes are plentiful and the price is normal for Finland, but the opening hours are longer than other places, which is a bonus. Highly recommended.

The Most Northern Mcdonald´s of Europe
(1)
I don't think that a McDonald's is the most original thing to recommend. But I'm doing so because it's the most northern location in Europe and therefore, it has its charm. I'm not sure what kind of meat it was, because it was quite dry, but with ketchup and mustard, it was more or less edible. The McDonald's is at the end of the pedestrian street of Rovaniemi, where you can find a shopping centre, travel agencies, car rentals and souvenir shops.

Savotta
At the Senate Square in front of the Helsinki Cathedral is hidden one of the best restaurants in the whole of Finland. The Savotta is a quality restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Finnish dishes. Another highlight is the decoration of the restaurant. Based on Finnish tradition and with the waiters dressed in traditional clothing, you are taken back to times past. No doubt the restaurant offers an unforgettable experience. It was a shame not take pictures inside, but on their website lots of pictures of dishes, the place itself, the waiters and even a virtual tour of the Savotta and other quality restaurants in Helsinki can be viewed. I can strongly recommend that you come over to the Savotta if you want to learn more about Finnish culture and food. Booking is essential. It is true that it is quite expensive but if you go a fine restaurant in Finland it will be expensive. I ordered a dish consisting of reindeer sausage and grilled moose, something I have never tasted and ice cream dessert Savotta Sivu with Birch syrup. Come and immerse yourself deeply into Finnish cuisine. It was all very good. The treatment we received from the staff was excellent.

You can't miss seeing this place, and eating here isn't even necessary. Even if you just drink something at the bar you can see the whole place and take pictures. It's very original, with a real tractor, and other agricultural stuff that's been adapted. What a pub! We had dinner there, but it's very, very expensive. We tried the reindeer meat, which was great, rich but the portion was small. What we liked the sausages with mashed potatoes, which were delicious and not very expensive.

Ravintola Nili
(1)
Without a doubt the Ravintola Nili is one of the best restaurants you can go if you want to try authentic Finnish cuisine. The restaurant is fully set in a Finnish log cabin that will make you feel like you're in the woods. I recommend starting with a tasting of their best recipes, and ending, of course, with a generous bite of reindeer.

Kappeli

This beautiful building is so much more than just one of the best restaurants in Helsinki. It couldn't have a better location, a few metres from the Market Square. It's popular with Finnish people for lunch and dinner, and no wonder, because it seems like a little palace, with a classical facade and a wide terrace. It has an extensive menu, and you can choose from many different types of dishes, including many traditional Finnish options. The service is also very good. It has a bar area, where you can have a drink at night while listening to jazz, a room for private dining, and an outdoor terrace which is very spacious and pleasant in warm weather. In terms of prices, it's quite fair - I had grilled chicken with goat's cheese, balsamic vinegar, seasonal vegetables and tomato sauce. It looked more like a work of art than a plate of food; I didn't know where to start to dismantle it all. It cost 20 euros. Founded in 1867, a restaurant like this, with so much history behind it, is definitely worth a visit.

Ruissalo Spa Hotel

The De Ruissalo, Turku, Finlandia Cafe is an unmissable stop if you visit Turku in summer (open all year but not every day). This lovely cafe has the distinct pleasure of being located on the island of Ruissalo, a protected natural park which is adjacent to the Port of Turku. From downtown take you 20 minutes by car, but enjoy it more if you do travel by bicycle. You can also visit the botanical garden or take a dip in the Ruissalo beach camping.

Logomo Cafe
(1)
This is a very unique and interesting cafe. It's like a giant box that became a cafe. It's on the Logomo exhibition grounds, the epicenter of the cultural capital of Turku in 2011. Like other places in the city, it was thought to be open only during 2011, although it seems that it will remain open much longer. In regard to the cafe, there's an ample all white space with endless black stripes crossing each other and in some areas the furniture is also all white. It's the work of the German artist Tobias Rehberge, who tried to create a different space to relax in. Everything is black and white except one central orange lamp and a line that comes from it and goes to the floor, nothing else. Some of the tables are like gigantic mirrors and it's quite funny to eat off them. As for the food, it's great for a quick drink, a salad or sandwiches, and cakes and things like that. If you go to the exhibition center, you have to stop for a drink at the café or just have a look, but you'll end up staying for longer for sure.

Lordi's Rocktaurant (Restaurant de la Banda Lordi)
(5)
This quaint little restaurant belongs to the Finnish band Lordi, which won the Eurovision Festival in 2006. The "Rocktaurant" is located in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, in Tommi singer's hometown Putaansuu. The restaurant is known for its rock decor which includes dedications of several famous singers and groups like Ozzy Osbourne. It is a fast food restaurant, pretty cheap and the quality is good. They serve pizzas (with reindeer meat as an ingredient for example but there are many to choose from), kebabs, burgers and sushi, chicken, and salads. The times that I've been here, the portions are quite generous. The kebab and pizzas seem small but are quite hearty. Trust me, you will be full. You can also refill your soda whenever you want and pay only the first cup. The best thing about this place is that they play rock and heavy metal music , which is not normally heard everywhere when you go to eat, though in Finland it is more normal. This is an interesting place and cheap for Finland, but if you like that sort of aesthetic or music, maybe it's not your type of place ... Hehehehe Here you can also have a coffee etc. and enjoy their covered terrace.

This is a restaurant with history. Its dates back to 1932 and, since then, it has been one of the favorite restaurants of artists and the world of culture in Finland. It is also very close to an artists' residence. This cultural influence can be seen in dishes with the names of the artists at tables where they would sit. Its décor is very classic, but well maintained, without highlighting excesses or deficiencies. The food is of very good quality, both meat and fish portions are quite abundant. It has an extensive menu with outstanding entrees that are typically Finnish and it has different types of meat and fish. Tenderloin with pepper, for example, is highly recommended. They offer what they call "classics" such as fried herring with mashed potatoes, and various desserts each more palatable, such as the warm chocolate cake with mascarpone mousse and Cointreau. In addition, attention is pretty good. The restaurant has a large lounge, a bar counter that is quite spacious and in summer features an outdoor terrace which makes a meal even more enjoyable. Prices aren't too expensive for a good restaurant in Finland but somewhat higher than Spain, but the quality is excellent and the dishes are very well worked and prepared. Occasionally it has small exhibitions and musical performances. The trouble with this location, especially for tourists, is that it is out of the center and the tourist area. It is very near the Sibelius monument and not far from Kamppi Metro Station.

Ravintola Savoy
You can find a salmon special in pretty much any restaurant in Helsinki (and spicy), but none will be as good as it is in Savoy. It's a magical place designed by the genius architects Aino and Alvar Aalto. Hidden in the Esplandi Street, on a rooftop, you'll discover it like a geode. This marvel of minimalist interior (organic, functionalist, modern and ultimately unclassifiable) from the early 20th century (1937). Today it's the symbiosis between a restaurant and a museum, it retains the original furniture and designs. It also has one of the few original Savoy blown glass vases, which was designed by the same architects. The dim lighting, worn wood, and the flowers that fill the the vases there, the pianist's live music, the incredible views of the harbor and the cathedral are just amazing. This is a magical place to visit. We tried the anchovies (raw) with ginger, and reindeer fillet. The flavor was surprisingly intense. The price is around 50-60 euros per person, easily. I highly recommended it if your wallet can stand it.

Next to the Sibelius Park, a small cottage with a large summer terrace next to the sea. Here you can enjoy a coffee, roast sausages over the fire, or rent a canoe to go paddling. Don't miss it.

Excellent restaurant, food prepared at the moment you order. Salads, pastas and pizzas, with whatever you want. It's impossible to go to Helsinki and not visit this restaurant. It's modern and fast! Great prices and great food!

Cafe Bar No 9
With a young and international environment this is one of the best bars in Helsinki for going out for a beer after work. The kitchen (pasta, hot and cold sandwiches, etc..) and a selection of draft beers makes this place a reference in the city. They often carry out painting and photography exhibitions by local artists.
Restaurants in Tampere
Napoli Ravintola
In this modest but different pizzeria in Tampere. Here, you will have very original and tasty pizzas. Aside from the typical Italian specialties, you'll find pizza toppings like deer, bear, cactus and much more. They have 100 different kinds of pizza! My favorite was the pizza Lapponia food :-) The food is about 10 € .The pizzas are quite large and they have a salad buffet.

Pizzeria Golden Rax Pizzabuffet
(1)
We found this spot on one of those days when you're dying of hunger in an unfamiliar city. You see all the really expensive restaurants and suddenly an "all you can eat" buffet appears. All you can eat for roughly 10 euros or less. The buffet is Italian food: Pastas, salads, and of course pizza. Obviously the quality isn't the best, but given the restaurant prices in Helsinki, this is still better than McDonald's. The staff doesn't really speak English very well. Maybe it would be a good opportunity for you to practice your Finnish.
