Hafa Café

It is a bit difficult to reach this historic cafe, but once inside it offers many terraces that descend from the mountain side, which provide a beautiful view of the Strait and the Spanish coast in the background. It gives you a complete peace of mind while enjoying a great mint tea.

All the waiters will bother you to come eat at their restaurant. I think that, in the end, they are all equal. We decided to go with a waiter who would not leave us alone. We had chicken couscous, some kebabs and a salad. They tried to charge us more than it was actually worth, so you have to know how to haggle, which they seem to like.

This is the perfect place to have a typical Tangier peppermint tea. All the chairs face the street so you do not miss anything that is happening in front. You can also have lunch or dinner there. I only had a tea, so I can't recommend any of the food.

Typical tourist restaurant with a group of Andalusian musicians. Good food. Good service. Good price-quality ratio. It's easy to find and very quiet.

El Korsan Restaurant

I went to Korsan Restaurant under the recommendation of the user "Reconquista". I agree with his views: It is a luxurious but low-priced Moroccan restaurant (at least compared to Europe). I had dinner with my wife and we had Briuats (aperitifs), a couple of beers, water, and two lamb couscous. All for about 50 euros in total. Of course, there was live music and belly dancing during dinner as well. The most expensive part? Beer at 6 euros the bottle. It is well worth it though, if you want a quiet dinner in relaxing, luxurious environment.

La Couronne

On the Calle de la Liberté, which links the Greater Souk with Mohamed VI Avenue in the new part, is this pastry shop typical of Tangier with all of the Arabic sweets typical of the country. There are puff pastry with nuts, donuts, cake with walnuts and raisins, crackers, pasta stuffed with pistachio ... There are also several types of pita bread. The owners are very helpful and friendly and will happily answer all of your questions regarding the desserts.

La Española Bakery

La Española Bakery is one of the most famous and touristy bakeries in Tangier. It is on Rue de la Liberté, which we got to from the Grand Souk by going down the Boulevard Pasteur in Ville Nouvelle (new town). La Española is actually a tea room, decorated half way between Arab and Western and full of small round tables and chairs and mirrors on the walls. It is a very quiet and elegant establishment. The display case is notable for the amount of traditional Arab sweets on display. Another thing that stands out is the clientele: from Moroccan families to tourists to Tangiers businessmen. For a Western girl, it's a magnificent site for a tea or a quick sweet, because you won't be quite the topic of attention as in other tea rooms.

Casa de España Restaurant

This restaurant is located on the street of el-Jebha el-Ouatania, near the Boulevard Pasteur and the Place de France in the heart of the Ville Nouvelle. It is a Spanish-style restaurant serving mainly Spanish expats their national cuisine with wine or beer so they don't have to search around town for Spanish delicacies. It was founded in 1981. It is usually frequented by Spanish, businessmen and some tourists. The prices are very affordable. The lunch menu is less than six euros and mains are about the same. The atmosphere is lively and the waiters are smartly dressed. During my visit I opted for Arabic food, but this is a good place to have a cana at least.

Al Mountazah

Al Mountazah is a cafe in the Grand Socco that has a rooftop terrace with excellent views of the city, the medina, and its scenic minarets. To reach the cafe, climb to the third floor of the building located opposite the Cinema Rif. The cafe serves all kinds of tea ranging from the traditional mint tea to black tea and red tea. Also, don't miss their delicious fruit smoothies made with local fruits. The tangerine smoothie was especially delicious. It's open from 7:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night.

Not the best choice for an authentic kebab, but it was raining and the café was near our hotel. It's pretty good and all the windows overlook the port of Tangier. All in all, the kebab was pretty good.
